Thunderstriker (UC) fighter archetype:
-- At 1st level, you're able to attack with a two-hander without penalty while wearing a bucker. This is nice.
-- At 19th level, you're able to attack with a two-hander and retain your AC bonus from a buckler. This is freaking retarded.
There are some things in Ultimate Combat which are overpowered; there are others which are mindboggingly suboptimal, such as an archetype which is worthless until 19th level.
make shield bash attacks with a buckler as if it were a
light shield. This ability replaces armor training 2.
Knockback Smash (Ex): At 11th level, when a
thunderstriker uses his buckler to attack, he gains a
bonus equal to the enhancement bonus of the buckler on
both attack and damage rolls. This ability replaces armor
training 3.
Hammer and Anvil (Ex): At 13th level, a thunderstriker
suffers only half the normal penalties for two-weapon
fighting when using a buckler as his off-hand weapon.
This ability replaces weapon training 3.
It's RETARDED.
....so, what's the solution? Why, I'm glad you asked....
This light shield is specially crafted with a series of straps to allow a character proficient in shields to ready or stow it on his or her back quickly and easily.
Benefit: If you have a base attack bonus of +1 or higher, you may don or put away a quickdraw shield as a swift action combined with a regular move. If you have the Two-Weapon Fighting feat, you can draw a light or one-handed weapon with one hand and a quickdraw shield with the other in the time it would normally take you to draw one weapon. If you have the Quick Draw feat, you may don or put away a quickdraw shield as a free action.
NOTE THAT SINCE YOU CAN STOW IT AS A FREEBIE, THERE'S NO REASON FOR WANTING A BUCKLER IN THE FIRST PLACE FOR NON-INTERFERENCE WITH ARCHERY.
