When do oracles get their spells?

Just started playing an oracle and in our first session I was asked by the DM, when do you get your spells back?

The PRD only has the same info as the APG which is "Unlike a cleric, an oracle need not prepare her spells in advance. She can cast any spell she knows at any time, assuming she has not yet used up her spells per day for that spell level. Oracles do not need to provide a divine focus to cast spells that list divine focus (DF) as part of the components."

Do i regain spells like a sorcerer or bard after 8 hours of rest and 15 mins of preperation? Do the spells just renew at midnight? Do they have a specific time of day just like a Cleric, but you don't need to pray?

Thanks for your help :)

This falls under the general rule of "Preparing Divine Spells" (in the Magic chapter of CRB) with the exceptions noted by Oracle. This means you would pick a particular time of day to pray/meditate and you would get spells back then.

This topic (in its many variants) keeps coming up. I'm going to go ahead and make a FAQ request. To me, it's obvious that a character is a divine or arcane caster first, then spontaneous or prepared second, but due to the frequency of posts, I think this needs to be clarified.

Whether or not a class prepares spells at day or night or noon or dusk... in my games, all the spellcasters in the party prepare spells at the same time.

In our last campaign, people prepped spells at two different times. The paladin (while he was with us), the arcane archer, and the eldritch knight prepped at dawn, the traditional time. My cleric (who wore a ring of sustenance) typically napped from around 10 pm-midnight then prepped spells. This is workable in a case like the one I described, where magic was involved. I just took either the early watch and napped afterward or took a later watch and stayed up till dawn. Worked either way. None of us would likely do a noon preptime, not sure about dusk either.

Depends on the deity? I would play it as whenever the regular clerics of that deity get spells back. Of course, I'm a hardcase for not allowing the 15 minute adventuring day, so...

Thanks, I think I will have them come back at dawn, seems like an easily trackable time and I can't see the GM minding that :)

Oracles usually don't follow any specific deity.

As long as it's not being taken advantage of, it shouldn't matter all that much. We've had a few Divine casters in our RotRL party (and still have a Paladin), and it's never been a major issue, except in one case I can remember.... we've been playing for... I dunno. Years.

I was wondering about this, as it's going to come up my next game. Is there any official word?
