The rules for spellslinger are extremely vague, but I'm all for erring in the player's favor. After all, you have to give up EVERY SINGLE wizard class ability to become a spellslinger.
FOUR prohibited schools. No specialized school. No bonus spell slots. No bonded item/familiar. No cool 1st-level school powers. Nothing. Nada. Zip. Worse than zero.
Just a rustic gun or two and the ability to add it's enhancement bonus to attack rolls and DCs with a select few kinds of spells.
None of the other spellslinger's class abilities are really even worth mentioning.
