Advice on converting 4e warlord to PF

Silver Crusade

Converting a 4e Tactical Warlord to PF and I am stuck as to which base class to look at. I know the PF class will not have the healing aspects, but I am looking for a melee style leader. He often fights in combat a flank from our barbarian, and issues commands that help other melee combatants strike harder at a foe.

I am stuck between the Fighter with Tactictian Archetype, or a Order of the Dragon Cavalier. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Let's clarify:

Are you looking for a homebrew conversion, or are you wanting something within existing options that would capture the same feel?

Sorry for the Confusion.

Straight conversion. No homebrew.

PF only. No 3.5 stuff. Paizo only stuff.

Looking to just rebuild them legally.

The more I look the more I think it is order of the dragon.

I'd say a tactician fighter and a single level of Standard Bearer / Strategist cavalier. This gets you the best tactian ability progression, a ton of feats, and no useless mount.

Reading this makes me want to make a "Warlord" style class that uses some sort of action economy ability that let's them heal and buff party members and do stuff like give bonuses and extra attacks... A real team player class. Would be alot of work though. :P

I'd say that Fighter is somewhat closer to Warlord than Cavalier and should be used for any such conversion. You might want to add a few levels of a Bard but his combat ability will suffer. Or you might want to take bits from Paladin to make it more leader of men (high Charisma) and healing ability.

I mentioned in another thread that I think warlord could be a Bard archetype in PF.

You could also check Battle Herald prestige class.

Liberty's Edge

Adamant Entertainment's Tome of Secrets actually has a fully worked-out version of the Warlord using the Pathfinder System. It's actually a pretty solid build, based around inspiring party members to give them bonuses, and with an Inspiration power that grants 1d6 Temporary Hit Points per two class levels.

I personally think that the ToS Warlord is a bit weak. Rite Publishing should have a product for ya in a while...
