What to do when your group cancels?

So, I was getting all amped up to play tonight and, due to some conflicts, it's been cancelled last minute. But I was so excited to play and so into "game mode" that I still want to do SOMETHING! What do you guys (and gals) do when that happens to you? Aimlessly peruse rulebooks? Roll up characters you'll probably never use?

Hunt them down, skin them alive and salt them down.

Now if I was a mere hairless monkey like most of you, then i would likely either read a fantasy novel or watch a fantasy movie. Maybe see if a couple of them can still make it and do board games instead.

I tend to get whoever could still come to the game over to the house for a boardgame, card game, or at least some general socialization... and if no one is able to make it, I either play some video games (if alone) or watch a movie (if my "wife" is home).

See who else can come. If it's one person, I usually run a one shot or something.

Me? I take all their character sheets, and play it solo, if they survive based upon my solo GMing, they get to keep the experience points. Not really, just sounded funny to do, and there might be some lonely people who do just that.

I spend time with my kids and wifey instead.

I drink and spend way too much money buying books/dice that I really don't need.

Sometimes if it scales down to three or four total and they aren't down to play all night, we'll play a game of Munchkin or Three Dragon Ante. Doesn't happen very often, though. Usually all or nothing.

In one group I'm in, if enough people can't show up at the last minute, we might play a board game or Rock Band II. :)

The other group, getting together involves various traveling at a distance for some of us (including one person who lives 2 and a half hours away) so if we cancel we normally don't gather the rest of the group--though if some of us can get together, I like having dinner together or whatever.

If I'm alone and I want to do RPing, I might play a video game for awhile, or get involved in the online pbps I do, here and freeform on LJ. Or indeed work on my world writeups.

I go to the VFW and listen to the Vietnam and WWII vets' stories.
