So, with the 5 new factions out it was said that there would be rules detailing how one could change their faction. We were told that we'd get one free change on a character so long as it was before that character played a Season 3 mod. But there aren't any other rules for changing factions past our one free change. Does anyone know where these rules are going to be? They weren't in the Pathfinder Society Field Guide. Nor were they in the new Organized Play rules. Has anyone seen the rules for this yet?

Try the Guide to Pathfinder Society Organized Play, v4.0, page 15, first paragraph under Changing Factions.

Quote:
Changing your faction costs a number of Prestige Points equal to 3 times your character level. Changing your faction does not alter your Fame score.
Quote:
You retain your faction traits, if any, but lose any Prestige Awards you have accumulated during your time with your old faction.

So, 3, 6, 9, ..., 36 PP to change factions, no loss of total Fame, loss of any faction Prestige Awards (that are ongoing) that you have purchased.

Hmmm, I could have sworn that there wasn't anything in there. I reread that section like 4 times and still didn't catch it.

Thanks!

Also you have from now until August 2012 to change a character's faction for free. HOWEVER, to change a faction for free it must be done the FIRST time the character is played after August 4th 2011. If you miss the Free opportunity you can spend Prestige to change your faction anytime.

Your GM should note the change and cost on the character's chronicle like any other purchase.

This is outlined in the last paragraph of the Changing Faction section of the 4.0 Society Guide.

I hate that they removed this from later editions of the Guide to Pathfinder Society Organized Play. There is so much that simply isn't mentioned anymore that I have to go back and find forum posts about old editions to answer my questions.

They didn't change the rule, right? They just don't tell you about it anymore?

They did not change the rule. It is in the last version of the 1e Guide.

It's in the v.10.0 guide, page 32.

I don't think I've ever changed a faction beyond 1st level (I believe it's covered in the free rebuild before 2nd level rule?) but I have considered it once or twice.
