Improved Unarmed Strike as a feat pre-requisite for creatures with natural attacks

Rules Questions

Related to my other question, Improved grapple has Improved Unarmed Strike as a prerequisite now. If I'm a dire tiger (that already has the special ability grab with my claws) and I want to take Improved Grapple, do I still have to take Improved Unarmed Strike? It would seem that proficiency with natural weapons would kind of cover that one.

Unfortunately you still need to take the pre-req feat.

Nothing in the special ability states it counts as a valid substitute so it doesn't fulfill the requirement.

There are a number of creatures that have Improved Grapple as a bonus feat. RAW is that IUS is needed as the prereq otherwise. If you don't like that in your campaign, modify the feat or add a feat with different prereqs. Maybe something like Improved Grab...requires critter to have Grab ability...
