Erastil's Speaker

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

maybe i'm a little late to the party but is it not odd that the only way to get diplomacy as a class skill from a trait is to follow Erastil a god who 'leading his followers by example and good deeds rather than flowery rhetoric'?

Trait: Ease of Faith (religious) gets you that.
Trait: Charming (Social) can get you that.
Trait: Well Informed (Halfling Racial) can get you that.
Trait: WOrld Traveler (Human Racial) can get you that.
Trait: Claistian Prostitute (Religion adn world specific) can get you that.
Trait: Patient Optimist (erastil) DOES NOT give it to you as a class skill though you get a +2.

There are also some alternate Racial Traits which go by the same name but are not TRAITS per se that can give it to you.

I'm not sure which trait you're referring to, but there are a couple that would allow you to have Diplomacy as a class skill.

From the APG: Ease of Faith (Faith Trait), Well-Informed (Halfling Race Trait), World Traveler (Human Race Trait), Calistrian Prostitute (Religion Trait).

From the Inner Sea Primer: Fangwood Diplomat (Nirmathas Regional Trait).

More to come, after I do some digging. Hope this helps! :)

EDIT: Partially ninja'd by Ughbash!

charming just gives a bonus to diplomacy

ease of faith i missed (thanks will work for character i have in mind)
missed the others due to race idea.

still erastil's speaker seems odd.

With regard to Erastil' Speaker being odd... I get where your coming from, but I took a different slant to the trait.

I'm currently playing an Inquisitor of Old Deadeye (preacher archtype) and while he doesn't spout flowery retoric - my character does preach the words of The Parables of Erastil - which I see as good common sense, advice, principles and lessons according to Erastil's credo.

In that sense a follower of Erastil [who includes a strong sense/bond of community and family in his portfolio] could indeed have need of Diplomacy.
