Two questions:
1. My DM requires my Inquisitor to spend a standard action to "scrutinize the enemy" in order to roll knowledge checks for monster info. I had thought knowledge checks were "no action".
2. After casting Spiritual Weapon, does the Weapon attack on its own? My DM made me spend my standard action to make it attack the same creature it attacked last round that hadn't moved.

1. There is no action for the first knowledge check and generally you don't get a second -- you see something and either you know something about it or you don't -- staring at it isn't going to help.
2. Spiritual weapon only needs an action to redirect if you choose to have it attack a different target than it did last round and even then it's a move action not a standard action iirc.

Well to be fair to the gm with a name like that it looks like his own parents hate him, so there might be a reason (just joking -- I don't mean it)!
I kid of course, but it really seems like the GM doesn't know what's what it's not like spiritual weapon is even a powerful spells -- slightly useful, but that's about it.
