what bonuses get multiplied on a critical hit?
Example
i had a 20th level elven fighter(weapon master archetype) wielding an elven curve blade(1d10 18-20 x 2) Two-Handed.
I had weapon specialization and greater weapon specialization, +5 weapon training, Power Attack(+18,-6) and the Blade was +3.
I am mainly wondering about these bonuses, because the books do not specifically say these are precision damage bonuses, which do not get multiplied.
the reason i asked is because in a recent battle, i was able to critical hit for 288 damage(not max) and i was wondering if i was supposed to multiply all these bonuses.
BTW total Multiplier for above example was x4.

You multiply all the bonuses listed... by x2, not x4.
I don't understand how you managed to turn "18-20/x2" into "total multiplier was x4."

Ok let us see:
Looks like everything should multiply.

Here's exactly what's NOT multiplied on a critical hit:
Precision damage (such as from a rogue's sneak attack class feature) and additional damage dice from special weapon qualities (such as flaming) are not multiplied when you score a critical hit.
Anything else is multiplied. Your STR bonus, the weapon's enhancement bonus, Weapon Specialization, and anything else that is not listed in the above-quoted exceptions and doesn't explicitly call itself out as non-multiplied will be multiplied.

what bonuses get multiplied on a critical hit?
Bonuses expressed as extra dice do not get multiplied.
When you multiply, multipliers are not multiplied by one another. Rather you 'combine' them into a single multiplier. For example, if you apply two x2 multipliers, you only multiply the total by x3 not x4.

I just accepted the x4.
But a short course on critical multiplying might help. Each critical multiplier is actually one lower than it really is listed. They also do not multiply (as would seem intuitive) but add.
So on a x2 crit you actually only get to add +1 times normal damage on top of the normal damage you would already do. So a x2 crit can be thought of as 1xNormal Damge+1x normal damage.
If you get x2 crit and for some other reason another x2 crit you are getting:
Normal damages+ 1x normal damage + 1x normal damage=3 times normal damage.
If you get x2 and x3 and x4 you are just getting to add 1+1+2+3=7 times normal damage.
I hope it makes sense. If you get the benefits of multiple multipliers (as above) then you subtract one from each multiplier and add the reduced numbers together. Take the sum and add one. You get to roll damage that many times.

I'd stick to lower levels of play until the basic game mechanics "gel" for you. Higher levels will still be there later on, and the mechanics at higher levels can get really crazy very quickly if they're not already second nature by then.
did the x4 come from weapon mastery of some sort? i think that would only jump the elven blade up to a x3 on a crit though
so... if he can't figure where the x4 came from.. then no, he shouldn't be able to crit for 288 points =)
the damage bonuses on the sword total to 1d10 + 30. even on a x4 your range of damage is 124 to 160. something isn't right on how you added that all up.
if you mean a full round attack did 288 damage from taking all your attacks, then yeah, 288 seems like good damage output. keep up the good work. I've seen rogue/barbarian builds that do 294 damage on a good set of critical hits with sneak attacks and haste at 15th level.

The weapon master archetype gets a per day ability to bump a crit multiplier by 1 with the mastered weapon. Combine that with the 20th level fighter ability and there is where the x4 comes from.
I suppose he could have a 34 strength for an additional +18 damage, but that still only makes the crit 4d10+192 (average 214), which does not reach 288.
Maybe some other buffs were up? Prayer, bardic music, etc?
I suspect a math error when multiplying the large numbers.

You get it right. and it's how is supposed to work.
At high level, is not that simple for a fighter to reach the target, or the be conscious in the battle, for what is worth.
If the fighter manages to reach an enemy, that enemy dies. And that just sounds right because the fighter is at the maximum of his expertise.

The easy answer is that the weapon die (or dice), and all numeric modifiers (i.e. +4 from this, +2 from that) multiply. Anything else that gets rolled and added does not.
Note that vital strike adds extra dice, and doesn't change the weapon die, so it won't multiply. The dice you get because your weapon is larger (enlarge person) or acts as if it was larger (lead blades) do multiply, because they change the base damage for that weapon.
