Sensei / Evangelist: Battle Herald open for them?

Rules Questions

Can a Sensei / Cavalier or a Evangelist / Cavalier take levels in Battle Herald? The answer appears to be yes.

I am thinking a Luring Musketeer 4/ Evangelist 1 would make for a really cool Battle Herald. Or a Strategist Standardbearer 1/ Evangelist 4, but I like the first one more.

I asked a similar question here: http://paizo.com/paizo/messageboards/paizoPublishing/pathfinder/pathfinderR PG/rules/monkSenseiArchetypeHowMuchIsAdviceLikeInspireCourage

So far the consensus by RAW seems to be no. :-/

And at this point, I am 100% certain they do.

The Evangelist says it counts as Inspiring courage for PrCs, and the sensei gets bardic performances, some of which are inspire courage.

It works.

Shadow Lodge

I agree from what it says in the books (RAW?)

RAW is read as written, yep!

I also think this is Read as Intended.

For anyone who says no to this, it's because it doesn't have a nice, bolded Bardic Performance with an italicized Inspire Courage under their class abilities. Regardless, Evangelist and Sensei still get Inspire Courage in order for Battle Herald to function as a prestige class, right?

I mean, why not? Anyone who says no to this is just curb stomping creativity. I haven't looked at the specifics involved, so there might be better ways to create a Battle Herald, but I would totally let players get away this this if they really wanted to roleplay it. And don't forget that you could also be a Samurai/Sensei/Battle Herald as well, if you like that Asian flavor. =D

What makes you sure of this? What troubles me is that it does not have the "counts as prerequisite for the purpose of feats and prestige classes" kind of wording which other similar features usually do :-(

I would really like to use extra performance feats and such and have it qualify for battle herald, too...

It says it's identical, then lists the exceptions.

If he can inspire courage, he has the inspire courage class feature.

You could even take discordant voice.

Are you talking about this (taken from the Evangelist's Sermonic Performance)?

"This ability is similar in all respects to bardic performance as used by a bard of the same level (including interactions with feats, spells, and prestige classes), using Perform (oratory) as the evangelist’s performance skill."

Unless you were talking about the Sensei's Advice ability, in which case it says it is identical to Bardic Performance. To me, that implies it can qualify for prestige classes as well since that would be identical to how a Bard can qualify to become a Battle Herald.
