Domain power 'Hand of Glory' with selective channeling feat!?

Rules Questions

The player who plays the cleric in my group claims that the 'Hand of Glory' domain power should increase his selective channeling power (the ability to select more creatures to be unaffected by the channel energy)

The power description says:
"...give it a bonus equal to your cleric level on a single Charisma-based skill check or Charisma ability check"

whereas selective channeling feat defines:
"When you channel energy, you can choose a number of targets in the area up to your Charisma modifier. These targets are not affected by your channeled energy."

what do you think?

The rules are clear: Selective channeling is not a skill check or ability check. It is entirely unaffected by hand of glory.
