I'll apologize in advance if this has been discussed already, I don't really have the time to search through the entire rules question threads.
Okay, having said that, I have a player in one of my games, he is a dhampir sorcerer and he has taken the elemental (fire) bloodline and the wildblooded archetype (primal) from Ultimate Magic.
He is using the feat in question (Elemental Spell) to alter/augment magic missile to do fire damage.
I don't think he can do that with magic missile, it isn't an elemental energy type (it's force damage). And the way I read/interpret the feat description it needs to be one of the 4 elemental energy descriptors (acid, cold, electricity, or fire).
Or am I mistaken? (And if so, doesn't that leave this feat open to altering other damage-type spells? I thinking/wondering the various inflict spells (or cure spells if you were trying to harm undead)).
So, I'm looking for help in determining the intent/true "power" of this feat.
Thanks in advance.

Yes, he could replace half or all of the 'force' damage with fire damage instead. The Elemental Spell feat allows him to replace the normal damage type with elemental damage of his choosing (in this case, fire). And yes, it would as written apply to inflict wounds spells (I don't know about curative spells, as they don't normally cause damage, that would be up to the DM (you).

Hmmm... Jeff thanks for answering my question.
And the cure spells was mostly a special mention... I know they don't normally cause damage... it's why I put the "if trying to harm undead" part in. ;)
But... seeing as how he has already used it in this way in the game (more than once) and taking your explanation into consideration... I guess I'm just misreading/misinterpreting the intention of the feat.
Heh... you've made one of my players in Carrion Crown very happy. ;)
