Can someone please help me to find where bonus stacking is explained in the Pathfinder Role Playing Game Core Rulebook? I have a player who really wants to use two shields and I know that shield types don't stack but I can't find the reference in the book. Please provide a page number if you can. Thanks!!!

If you prefer to read online:
Stacking: Stacking refers to the act of adding together bonuses or penalties that apply to one particular check or statistic. Generally speaking, most bonuses of the same type do not stack. Instead, only the highest bonus applies. Most penalties do stack, meaning that their values are added together. Penalties and bonuses generally stack with one another, meaning that the penalties might negate or exceed part or all of the bonuses, and vice versa.
Bonus: Bonuses are numerical values that are added to checks and statistical scores. Most bonuses have a type, and as a general rule, bonuses of the same type are not cumulative (do not “stack”)—only the greater bonus granted applies.
Dodge Bonuses: Unlike most sorts of bonuses, dodge bonuses stack with each other.
Armor/Shield Bonus: Each type of armor grants an armor bonus to AC, while shields grant a shield bonus to AC. The armor bonus from a suit of armor doesn't stack with other effects or items that grant an armor bonus. Similarly, the shield bonus from a shield doesn't stack with other effects that grant a shield bonus.
If he wants to gain the shield bonus from both shields, he is out of luck. If he wants to use them as weapons, then it gets very complicated. There are very long threads around here about wielding two shields for bashing (Shield Master) and I don't know if there has been any kind of consensus.

While wielding 2 shields of a different type, he can improve his AC against critical confirmation through Shield Specialization and Greater Shield Specialization (from the APG), each taken twice, once for each shield type.
And that is all for defense.
With Shield Master, per RAW, he can become the best kind of 2-weapon fighting combattant : attacking with two weapons (both incurring the reduced STR bonus to damage of an off-hand weapon, though) at no penalties to hit, even for the additionnal attacks of Improved and Grater TWF, all the while benefitting from his shield bonus.
BTW, I do agree that Shield Master is in urgent need of an errata. But as the Romans said, Dura RAW sed RAW.
