Hey all!
This is an old stumper that I just can't seem to find an answer too, so I thought I'd post it here.
Does Limited Wish belong to all schools of magic or to no school of magic?
Let's say a prestige class allows you to learn one school of magic and the character picks, say, illusion. Can he then learn Limited Wish when it's time to learn a 7th level spell?
What if some feat or other allowed a cleric to add one arcane transmutation spell to his spell list, would limited wish be a valid choice?
Yeah, I know. Silly, nitpicky question, but it's actually come up.

Does Limited Wish belong to all schools of magic or to no school of magic?
From the PRD: "Almost every spell belongs to one of eight schools of magic. A school of magic is a group of related spells that work in similar ways. A small number of spells (arcane mark, limited wish, permanency, prestidigitation, and wish) are universal, belonging to no school." (emphasis mine)
So if something only affects spells of a particular school, it does not affect universal spells. A specialist gains neither a bonus nor a penalty to learning universal spells. Spell Focus does not affect them.
