Welcome to another recruitment topic! I will be looking for 4-5 players, one group only, to venture through Ustalav and be its saviours. Here are the rules for submission, and remember to download the Carrion Crown Player's Guide from the Paizo website to understand the setting of this adventure path.
Recruitment will close on Friday, the 24th of June.
• Races: All standard races from the Core Rulebook only will be allowed. Racial options from the APG will be allowed. I may allow Dhampir, Changelings and Orcs, as they fit the setting.
• Classes: All classes (Base and Prestige) from the Core Rulebook, APG and Ultimate Magic will be allowed. All archetypes will be allowed. Archetype stacking will be allowed - as long as the class features do not replace one another (as per the actual archetype rules).
• Favoured Class: The favoured class options from the Core Rulebook and APG will be acceptable. If the Magus receives some form of favoured class bonus in the near future, after the campaign has started, I will allow Magus players to retcon their favoured class bonus to this new class bonus if they so wish.
• Alignment: I will only allow Good and Neutral alignments.
• Ability Scores: Characters must be created with 20-point buy. No stat can be raised above 18 (prior to racial modifiers), and no stat can be lowered below 8 (prior to racial modifiers).
• Feats: Any feat from the Core Rulebook, APG and UM will be allowed. Any other feat from Paizo-compatible systems must be approved by me.
• Traits: Characters will start with three traits. One of these traits MUST be a Carrion Crown Campaign Trait.
• Hit Points: Characters will start out with Maximum hit points for their class at 1st level.
• Starting Gold: Characters will start with maximum gold for their class.
• The Words of Power system will be permitted for casters. For balance reasons, Borrow Future will not be an allowed Word Spell, unless it receives heavy errata.
Before you apply, I am looking for roleplayers who can post a minimum of once per day, preferably twice per day (or more) - and if a week passes without any explanation of absence, you will be booted and replaced. However, if I am warned beforehand of absence, this is of course acceptable. So please make sure you have the time and dedication before you apply.
Also, I ask that you supply a finished character sheet and a basic outline for your character's background to display your concept - if you are chosen I will ask for a slightly more elaborate background.
I encourage you to mix backgrounds as well.
If you have any other questions, go ahead and ask.

DM: Are you looking for completed characters to apply or just concepts at this stage?
I'm certainly interested as I stated in the previous thread but wanted to be sure I didn't supply too little when I apply.
I think I will prefer completed characters at this rate. In the previous PbP I opened I admitted several players without making sure their sheets were finished, so there was a week's delay from recruitment closing to when we could actually start. I will edit the main post to reflect this wish.
Fernu Fears Nothing
Am definately interested - currently in a couple of other pbp at present and can post at least once per day...
Here's Fernu Fears Nothing for consideration...
Need to pick a third trait - would this Shoanti trait from Humans of Golarion be permissable:
Bred for War (Shoanti): You tower above most other humans and possess a physique of hard, corded muscle.
Benefit: You gain a +1 trait bonus on Intimidate checks and a +1 trait bonus on your CMB because of your great size. You must be
at least 6 feet tall. [Humans of Golarion p30]
Would need to bump up Fernu's physical size a little but that's no biggie - otherwise I'll go for a further bonus to fear checks to emphasise her nom de guerre :)
Professor Andreas von Karstein
Posting up my idea, will complete the character sheet later in the week...
Professor von Karstein is a mutagen-focused alchemist, geared toward being effective in melee. He befriended Professor Lorrimor a decade ago, when Petros was a visiting lecturer for a term at the University in Karcau (assuming there is such a thing, I'm ad libbing a bit). Andreas was the professor of Anatomy and Physiology there, and the two hit it off and became fast friends during Petros' time there.
In the years since, Andreas has changed considerably (not necessarily for the better), as his experiments into anatomy have changed and taken a more macabre twist. Indeed, the professor has recently been fired from his post for questionable ethical decisions, and he is living in a flophouse on the streets of Karcau when he receives word of his former friend's passing.
Definitely going for a Jekyll and Hyde influenced character, no secrets there. The mild-mannered professor becomes something...different...when he 'mutagens up' for battle.
These are just rough ideas, and written quickly. Much more to come, but I would value any feedback from the DM.
Venedictos
Here is Venedictos, trying for a third time to get into a lasting PbP game. He is a cleric of Shelyn, but will mostly have bard levels (songhealer archetype). He is actually a monk - just the Franciscan type, traveling about the countryside on his donkey, and helping all those he can. He has grown tired of trying and failing to spread beauty around the country of Galt (his home nation) and eagerly answered the summons from Lorrimor (whose life he had saved a few years ago). Other than helping people, he entertains and evangelizes with his angelic singing voice (Gregorian chant, anybody), and carves beautiful carvings for furniture or wood sculpture.

May I present Sir Gellius Crispin, Undead Scourge Paladin of Iomedae. He was a formerly training to become a Hellknight of Chelaxia when he met the good Professor Lorrimor. During a stop in Chelaxia, Professor Lorrimor had a particularly nasty vampire that the was attempting to deal with and put out a call for aid to the local Hellknight outpost. They were dealing with a far larger problem at the time with a cult of demon worshippers that had cropped up and were planning an assault on their lair when Professor Lorrimor's came calling. Not being able to spare any of their full knights. Gellius, who was a squire at the time and would not be allowed in the assault on the cultists anyway, volunteered to help. They were able to destroy the vampire due in large part to Professor Lorrimor but Gellius aquitted himself well and because friends with the Professor. They corresponded often afterward and spoke mostly about the philosophies of the hellknights and what that would mean for my future. Through these correspondences, Gellius came to realize that he wanted to do more for the world than ruthlessly stamp out dissent and look at the law without an eye for good or ill. So, Gellius eventually left the order to find his calling. He eventually came to realize that his experience with the Professor was what started him on the path to righteousness and as such he would dedicate his life to protecting people from the abominations that are undead. He came to Iomedae also through the Professor, after asking him for guidance. The professor asked some questions about what he thought about different topics and mentioned my leanings fit with what the priests of Iomedae espoused.
EDIT: I forgot to mention I am currently a stay at home dad so I can make multiple posts per day.
Gregor Ward
Grigori was the horse-master for his clan as they traveled throughout Ustalav. He had a way with the horses, but even moreso he had a way with the whip. Whenever the family would roll into towns for horse-trading, they would also do performances. He specifically would perform tricks and the like using his whip. It was after one such performance that the Professor approached him and told him that there was a latent energy about him, and if he could learn to harness it he could work wonders. This information piqued his interest, and he went in search of how to achieve it. He found a few seperate trainers, but it was mostly those of his clan that helped him find how to mesh the two together. His heritage colored his training to include the aspects of misfortune. All the while he kept in touch with the professor, sharing what he had learned by his recommendation. He felt he owed the professor a great debt for allowing him to see his true potential. His death affected Grigori deeply, and he now feels indebted to a man who he can never repay. At the very least he could pay his respects at the funeral, though the man deserves so much more.
Aerys Trajyon
I would love a chance to play in this AP. Here is Aerys, human sorcerer, fresh off a third failed PbP. I would need to work on his backstory (his desire to make it to the Mwangi Expanse from a twice-failed Serpent's Skull PbP would be oddly, but amusingly, out of place here...), but his stats are complete.

Indeed it would be amusing. I'll await the changes to fit the Carrion Crown AP.
Petr Semchuk
Here's my submission; a nature oracle using the Words of Power system with the Enlightened Philosopher archetype.
Petr grew up in a simple peasant's cottage next to a swamp, but from birth he stood out from his peers because of his lame leg and his keen interest in strange and occult matters. He was teased cruelly by his peers and he always held himself aloof from them, more interested in obscure magic and monsters. Fortunately, Professor Lorrimor passed by his village while searching for artifacts from the dark reign of the Whispering Tyrant and took an interest in the lad. He helped him get enrolled in the village school, and the two kept up a scholarly correspondance for many years on the subject of natural history, extraplanar creatures and the obscure "Words of Power" that are rumoured to be the antecedents to modern magic. From the Lorrimor's letters, he has also gained a nodding acquaintance with the chemical savant Professor von Karstein.
The local peasants now fear Petr. They suspect him of trafficking with demons and call him the "Devil Rider of the Black Bog" because of the preternaturally intelligent horse he is always seen riding. He merely dismisses the prattling of such superstitious oafs, keeping his mind on more lofty matters.
Cassandra Blackmoore
For your consideration.
Cassandra Blackmoore
Changeling Oracle of Life
One morning while tending their meager farm a peasant and his wife were shocked to hear the plaintive cry of a baby coming from the woods near their home. Cautiously approaching the tree line they were shocked to find a basket containing a beautiful raven haired baby girl. looking into the girl's mismatched eyes the young wife, despite knowing the old tales, fell in love with the foundling. They named her Cassandra, in honor of the man's deceased mother.
Years passed and the beautiful baby grew into a beautiful woman. When Cassandra reached puberty she began to feel a unique pull towards the woods near her house. One night, after her parents went to sleep, she snuck out of their cabin and entered the woods following the voice in her head. Shortly she felt a malevolent presence following, stalking her. Growing more afraid she began to turn around and head back to the safety and warmth of her home. Suddenly from the darkness ,a deeper darkness struck her and knocked her to the ground. As she lay there a formless shadow enveloped her, chilling her to the marrow and draining the life from her.
Suddenly she felt the icy fingers recede as a warm light grew from her soul. Miraculously that light and warmth reached out and transfigured her into a being of pure energy. That energy burned the creature attacking her, causing it to flee in pain.
Returning home, Cassandra began to babble incoherently in an unknown tongue to her parents about what had happened, eventually she calmed down enough to explain. Soon everyone in the village knew about her encounter and how she had escaped. For a while whenever she visited the village, the villagers would make signs to ward off evil causing Cassandra great despair. Despite this Cassandra began using her talents to heal those in need. Over time she began to realize that she could extend that inner warmth to effect others around her.
Soon the villagers overcame their fear and accepted the young girl's gifts. After a while a strange man arrived in Cassandra's village and began asking about her. Directed to the Blackmoore homestead the man, a Professor Lorrimor, began asking Cassandra all kinds of questions about her encounter with the creature and, taking a good look at the young woman, about her childhood. After several days of questioning the Professor told young Cassandra that the creature she encountered was a shadow, a malevolent undead spirit, which drains the strength and life energy from it's victims. Astonished by her escape, Cassandra asks the Professor questions in return. Seeing her interest in learning more about how to fight these abominations, the Professor gave her one of his books on religion and religious lore.
Viktor Stasiuk
And now, I shall put forth Viktor Stasiuk, Human Blade-bound Magus, former bodyguard of the late, great Professor Lorrimor. I will have stats up soon.
While reckless, Viktor's dancing, flowing fighting style has saved the professor from time to time, mostly from urban threats such as thugs and their ilk. The professor did not pay Viktor merely in money, but also in Knowledge. The professor saw that Viktor had a knack for the arcane arts as well as swordplay, so he helped Viktor refine a style that combines the two. Viktor was told to study at a university in Magnimar, to further his abilities. When Viktor received his letter regarding the death of the professor, he was grief stricken, but he also decided that he would continue to learn what the professor wanted him to, and perfect the style they had worked on together.
imimrtl
In addition to Sir Gellius, I also had an idea for a human rogue with the burglar archetype. He was caught one night by Professor Lorrimor attempting to filch some of his items from his room in the inn he was staying at. Instead of sending for the Watch, Professor Lorrimor gave him a choice, go to jail or work for him. The Professor saw the benefit of someone with a burglars skills in some of his jobs and kept him on the straight and narrow.

@Cassandra: Wonderful profile. The only aspect in which I could nitpick would be minor punctuation errors in your background - which, let's be fair, doesn't degrade the overall quality of your profile. Good background, I like it, very telling.
@Fernu: I like how you've split your defences into raging and not raging - your profile is easy to read, the concept is good, the background is great. Overall great profile, sets a standard.
@Grigori: Your profile is rather empty at the moment, so I can't give too much feedback yet. Layout looks fine from what I can see, though, and nothing's out of the ordinary or wrong.
DM Patcher
I would also appreciate feedback. I was a bit rushed last night & math on skill points, etc. could easily be off after re-working stats for 20-point buy.
Let's see - why is your spellcraft 5? I see +1 rank and +3 class skill, but no other modifier - your int is 10, so no int modifier. Your perception is correct with the familiar present, but Alertness also gives a +2 to sense motive, so it should be +1 for both. Or -1 for both without the familiar.
I assume the 4th skill point is from your favoured class.
Apart from the errors above, your profile is a little bare, in my opinion.
DM Patcher
@Sir Gellius: Your profile is a little lacking - I see you've put your traits under Special Abilities - could you separate them for easier reading? Also, your skills are a little clustered - could you show why you have as many ranks as you have, and how many skill points you're supposed to have? Background looks alright, though if you could elaborate slightly that would be good.
@Kordel: Nothing wrong with your profile, except for the one trait you're missing. I do find it a little bare. The background is also a little short - could you elaborate?
@Almathea: Profile is neatly organised. I assume your favoured class bonus is put in HP? The background could be fleshed out a little - but the concept comes across well enough, which is all I need.

Updated the profile and thank for the feedback! Also big thanks to Almathea as I borrowed some of her format!

@Sir Gellius: Very nice - thank you for elaborating upon your profile. Easy to read, easily accessible and looks good. Everything also seems to be in order.
@Aerys: Thank you as well for fleshing it out. It looks great, and you fixed the errors. Superb.
@Edmund: Profile looks good - everybody seems to be borrowing Almathea's layout, heh. It's a good one, though, so I shan't complain. Everything's in order.

Richie Royallis was always a charming boy. Born of a human father and an elven mother, it was presumed that his life would be difficult. This was not the case. He proved to be quite popular and was very intelligent. He had learned quickly and soon became one of a few young prodigies in the area near Ravengro. Schools couldn’t wait to compete for his application. He was a skilled performer and very charming. He had many admirers and would easily calm those who approached him with jealousy. He believed strongly that it was his purpose to make people smile and though he wasn’t wealthy, he would entertain anybody who wanted to listen. He had a marvelous voice and was good at telling stories, singing, and writing and reciting poetry. He never asked for money but people would pay homage just to see their favorite performer. Richie loved the fame and attention though he would often long for much deeper relationship. His fame made such relationships difficult to find. One day he met a man named Professor Lorrimor, a man who was also a well-versed scholar. Richie would often compete with the man in battles of knowledge. Though Richie was very popular for his artistry talents, he also fancied himself a scholar. This was the first time that ability was put to the test. Richie went to great lengths to study and increase his knowledge to match the old mans. This rivalry grew into a strong friendship. The professor was the first person Richie had met who was more interested in his intellectual talent. Lorrimor and Richie met regularly to talk on linguistics, history, and local happenings around Ravengro. After some time had passed, Lorrimor had passed away. Grieving for the loss of his good friend, Richie attended the funeral.
