Noticing William awake too, he adds. "A woodsman indeed, you stir even before I do." This last bit is said in a teasing but friendly tone.

Which do you find the most beautiful time of day, Master Chiron? I make it a rule not to miss a sunrise. Shall we have breakfast?

Take ten on a Survival check to get a 15 to find breakfast. Then, once we're all fed and prayed and whatnot:

Let's go, then. It's already getting on in the day!

Male Centuar Ranger 1

"I am fond of the darkness master Flynn. My name is Starwatcher for that is what I do. When else but night, then eh?"

Seeing that William has breakfast well in hand, Chiron spends a moment before eating to find their course toward the bandit camp.

Survival 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16

female Elf Witch 1

Once Emalea is finished with her own... meditation, she joins the others for breakfast.

Assuming there is still a campfire burning, she unfastens some rattling pots and pans from her saddlebags that were still lying on the ground, and gets to work on the thing William found. She plugs a few herbs from her beltpouch to spice it up a little as well.

"You asked if I can cook. Well, judge for yourself"

Craft (Cooking): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18

M Hobgoblin Druid 1

After eating:
"Thanks for the meal. It was delicious. I seemed to have forgotten that I don't like doing much after I eat though."

Male Human Ranger (Trapper) 1

Aaah! A half-orc wandered into our camp! Where did you come from!

Ah, Master H'vok. Good morning! That's unfortunate. If it makes any difference, the portions were quite meager. I'm very grateful for Miss Emalea's spices. Shall we be on our way?

LoL, the cost of too many PbP's

female Elf Witch 1

While she's collecting her cooking gear again and ties it to her saddlebags again, she asks "Master Oleg had mentioned bandits, but I'm not entirely sure of every detail. Who are these bandits and how far away is their camp?"

Male Centuar Ranger 1

"The bandits were extorting Oleg. They claimed the fee was for protection. Their camp is a little less than a day from here. We can get there by dusk."

Female Human Cleric 1

"You cook well, Emalea. Thank you for preparing breakfast."

Naen says a final blessing over the grave of Carmichael Korvus, after which she promptly assembles her equipment. The armor she dons looks rather different from before. Years of rust and neglect have been washed away, and the scales shine in the sun. Naen hangs her wooden shield, newly smooth, upon her mare's saddle, strapping it in to place as Chiron finishes speaking.

"Then let us ride."

female Elf Witch 1

"Ah, I see. We should maybe make camp before we reach them though, and proceed the last miles tomorrow. If we attack them at night, they're at the advantage, as they know the ground and we don't. If attacking them is the plan of course."

She hoists her saddle onto her mare, straps it tight before attaching the saddlebags to it and tying the rolled up bedroll behind it as well. She patted the horses neck, who was getting irritated by a small bird ontop of its head again.
"Well I'm ready to ride as well."

Male Centuar Ranger 1

Assuming no random encounter, can we skip to us making camp around dusk 2 miles or so away from the bandits?

Female Human Cleric 1

Sounds good to me. Naen is ready to go.

Should we arrange a scouting party once we set camp?

Sorry guys this has been a crazy week. My wife tried to commit suicide this week. So I am trying to catch up. There is no random encounter tonight. I will post a map of the bandit camp for the encounter in a little bit.

Oh my god!? Dude, take some time. Don't worry about us. We'll be here when you are. Is she ok? Are you? Let me know if I can do anything. I'm in Seattle, but I'll remote over whatever I can.

Female Human Cleric 1

Take as much time as you need, Erefine. Sending thoughts and prayers your way.

female Elf Witch 1

I'm with the others there, take the time you need, a game should be the least important thing right now

She is okay and I am taking time off work to be on suicide watch while her new meds kick in.
I will post the map of the bandit camp shortly for you.

As you reach the outskirts of the bandit camp you notice two century posts at the side closest to you. The camp is encased in forest.
You also see there is a gate to the one side.
Green = Forest
Dark Brown = Century Posts
Red = Gate
Orange = Fire
K= Kressle the Bandit leader.
Bandit Camp .

Female Human Cleric 1

If you are absolutely comfortable proceeding, Erefine, I'm here and ready to go. If you need some time, however, we all understand. I'm not trying to dissuade the group from moving forward with the game, but please don't feel beholden to us in the face of family crisis. Our chief concern is the welfare of you and your wife. We can always wait.

I appreciate your concern, but this will give me something to do while I take my turn on suicide watch so that I don't fall asleep. However I think I will proceed much slower. I really enjoy this adventure and don't want to loose an entire group if you know what I mean.

M Hobgoblin Druid 1

"We all know that if I get to choose we will just stab them in the face and be done with it so if any of you nice people want to try to talk them down, now is the chance. Otherwise we need a plan on how to take them out."
What are the red squares?

Male Human Ranger (Trapper) 1

Let my offer my apologies as well. Take your time, it sounds like you have a lot to take care of. We are just fine waiting.

I have no compunction dealing with these people however you will, so long as they are the bandits we seek. If they surrender, I only request we honor that.

Is that... sentry posts? Like, guard towers? Can we tell if they are manned?

Once the bandit camp is in sight: I suggest that the stealthy among us get close in order to see what we're dealing with. Hopefully, we can open fire before they know what is upon them.

female Elf Witch 1

Emalea whispers to her familiar in elven "Fly. Have a look and see if anyone is in those towers, but don't let them see you"

As the bird flies away she explains to the rest of the group "I send him to get a closer look at those towers, so we know what we're dealing with"

Perception check for bird: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22 (low-light vision)

Male Centuar Ranger 1

"Very good Emalea."

Chiron watches the bird fly away until he can hardly see it.

"I believe this is the camp we're looking for and I plan to subdue everyone here. I will only use as much force as necessary. If they surrender, we should not kill them. At least not immediately. We need a clear picture of what happens here."

Right on. I understand.

"For my part, I would prefer diplomacy, but I am doubtful it would be effective. Happs was fearful of a powerful leader, one who certainly carries more authority with these bandits than does our modest band. We will more than likely be required to take them by force." Naen squints, trying to get a better sense of the camp before them. "I am prepared for either course."

M Hobgoblin Druid 1

"Chiron I will be sure to inform any surviving bandits who they owe their lives too, and you do have a good point about gathering information."

female Elf Witch 1

"I agree that the diplomatic approach will most likely be futile. They're bandits, thieves and most likely murderers. I see no reason to spare them the fate they so easily bestow upon others."

She squints her eyes as if looking for Ath'eni, even though she knows how far away he is right now and there's no chance to see him from here.
"However, in case we want to interrogate them first, I should be able to cause at least one of them to fall unconcious, maybe all of them, depending on how many there are"

Male Centuar Ranger 1
Emalea wrote:

"That would be most useful. We would be adverse to riding in on my back? I can get you in safely."

female Elf Witch 1

"Oh we should all be close by, in case it doesn't work, and I have my doubts I can send all of them into the realm of dreams. He might wake them up again, if we take too long subdueing them, and then we'd be right back where we started. Also, I think we should wait to see if those towers are occupied, it could change our strategy quite a bit"

Ema you are able to tell through your bird that there are a total of 3 centuries in the towers.
Red Square=A gate

female Elf Witch 1

Emalea waits till her familiar returns and reports his findings to her, then sighs and repeats it to those that don't speak the elven tongue.
"There seem to be 3 guards in the towers, one in one of them and two in the other, from how Ath'eli saw it. Any ideas about strategy now?"

"They'll likely be cocky in their numbers and overconfident in their knowledge of the area. Perhaps we use a hit and run on them. Guerrilla tactics have helped weaker people overcome might armies. Let us use our small size as an advantage."

Chiron wrote:

Speaking metaphorically, I suppose? William grins, staring up at the centaur that towers above him.

He then makes sure the horses are securely tied, unslings his bow, and prepares to sneak towards the bandit camp.

Who's coming with?

Grinning from ear to ear:

"You know I am in, and despite my lack of official stealth training I can hold my own. I say we fire at the same person, but from different directions. Move to a new spot and do it again. They won't know how many of us are out there. We should take the two man tower first, and then the one man tower. That will stop them from spotting the rest of the group from up high. "

With that said Hav'k readies his bow.

female Elf Witch 1

Emalea pulls the sling from her belt and loads it with one of the bullets from her pouch, holding it ready in one hand in case she needs it.

"I will try to support you as good as I can, but I'm not actually an expert in weaponry combat"

Male Centuar Ranger 1

Chiron unslings his bow and nocks an arrow.

Initiative? 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22

Female Human Cleric 1

Naen pulls out a javelin and grips it tightly. "I am with you."

Male Human Ranger (Trapper) 1

It doesn't seem like initiative is the way to go here. Initiative starts once both parties are aware of the other. I sure hope they aren't aware of us! Right now, those of us who are stealthy can arrange a strike at the towers, while those of us who are not can get close in case the scouts run into trouble. How about H'vok and William advance, and maybe take out a guard or two, then retreat?

H'vok, how about you and I move and take the single guard by surprise. Then we can provide archery support from his tower.

Our strike is happening in the early morning, right?

M Hobgoblin Druid 1

Yes it is. We will probably have to make stealth checks though.
Stealth check if needed:1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

edit:Don't forget to account for penalties to perception for distance. Please. :) All that talking and I may have stepped on a branch. At least they are looking at me if I messed up and William hopefully did not botch his check.

Yes no initiatives I just need a few stealth checks and a knowledge of who is going with whom.

Female Human Cleric 1

Naen will hang back until William and H'vok get to the tower or are spotted. She's not very stealthy, I'm afraid.

Male Centuar Ranger 1

Chiron will hang back at the tree line also: bow in hand.

Hopefully H'vok and William can draw a few of the bandits out of the camp and into the open.

Male Human Ranger (Trapper) 1

Of course, the stealth check. Let's go.

William parts ways with H'vok, heading to a grove with some cover to the north of the camp. He draws a bead on the guard in the tower manned by one person.

Stealth: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17

Longbow Attack: 1d20 + 5d6d6d8 + 2 ⇒ (16) + (6, 3, 4, 7, 5, 1, 4, 1, 7, 2, 6, 5, 6, 8, 2, 4, 8, 6, 2, 3, 1, 4, 8, 3, 2, 1, 1, 1, 6, 7, 1, 7, 7, 8, 1, 8, 1, 8, 1, 3, 7, 4, 7, 3, 2, 2, 5, 5, 4, 1, 4, 6, 1, 3, 7, 2, 7, 1, 4) + 2 = 262 if it hits.

Male Human Ranger (Trapper) 1

Uh, I'll let that post stand as a testament to awesome, but I'll try to reroll that attack here. I should be well within 75 feet for the Longbow's range. Please add one to attack and damage if I should be within 30 feet.

Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9

Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Being a ways off H'vok's bumble of stepping on a twig is not noticed among all the noises of the forest. However William's arrow flies wide of the first century post, and now the centuries are on their guard.

M Hobgoblin Druid 1

Attack roll:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20

Damage:1d8 ⇒ 7

If I am withing 30 feet add 1 to both rolls also.

Male Human Ranger (Trapper) 1

Second Arrow:

Attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19

Damage 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

William takes care to take cover in the trees, trying hard to not be spotted. Hopefully, H'vok's hit gave them something else to think about.

female Elf Witch 1

Emalea thinks it's best to stay with Chiron and Naen, as she's not very skilled at sneaking herself.

Female Human Cleric 1

Naen peeks up from the foliage. Did their arrows strike true? Have they been spotted?

Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20

Male Centuar Ranger 1

Chrion beats the ground restlessly.
