At 20th level, the Mobile Fighter archetype gets this ability:

Whirlwind Blitz (Ex)

At 20th level, a mobile fighter can make a full-attack action as a standard action. He may also use the Whirlwind Attack feat as a standard action.

This ability replaces Weapon Mastery.

Please confirm that I am correct in the assumption that, if the Mobile Fighter has Whirlwind attack, it's now a standard action to use it, instead of 'a 20th level fighter gets the whirlwind attack feat usable with a standard action'.

thanks. :P

I wrote the section but am not the official errata-giver, but if you want it from the author: You are correct.

Although on the other hand, it IS his 20th level capstone ability, and I wouldn't be shedding too many tears if he just got a free Whirlwind Attack standard action either. :)

As far as I can see (And hero lab agrees), you still have to pick up whirlwind attack normally, you do not receive it as a bonus feat automatically.

Just my two cents, but as someone who is running a game for a player playing a mobile fighter, she would be MIGHTY upset if the class got the feat for free at 20th level.

She uses the feat all the time, so wouldn't want to wait until then to pick it up, but then she'd hate it if a major part of her capstone was getting a feat which she already had (without needing the prereqs she doesn't use nearly as often). Now, in my games I houserule that if a class ability gives you a feat you otherwise have, then you can respec that feat (e.g., someone who has taken imp. unarmed strike dips a level in monk; they can put that first feat into something else), but that's just a houserule.
