"Very well, I'll do so right away."

He hurries outside. 'Investigation' as some would call it is not what he's ever been good at... At the same time, here is a chance to get to know his new colleagues for the trip and perhaps make friends.

Walking to some of the guards that he helped move the wagons from harm: "Hey there! What a way to get introduced, right? I am Cahal ud'Din, a slave looking for freedom in service to the Pactmasters. Good job on moving the wagons! You showed strength when needed and I am honored to have served at your side. What do you think happened? A wagon can't just burn by itself, right? Do you think the driver did it?"

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17

Translation from Goblin:
"Apparently, they're a local Gnoll tribe. This seems like the sort of turf where Gnolls dwell, but his tracks indicate he was here before the madness with the fire. I say we play...at least get him talking."

Anyone watching now sees two Goblins playing with daggers.

Turns out Goblins speak grammatically inaccurate Welsh.

Kesh rushes to Cahal. "Are you looking for answers too? Kesh points at the strange man he was talking to. "I asked that man for his thoughts. I can tell he lied. He was defensive as if I accused him but I didn't. He's hiding something.

Male Dwarf Cleric of Angradd / 2

Oren approaches Lady Almah and offers a sad smile of commiseration. "As you can perhaps tell, my lady, I am a priest of Sarenrae. I would be happy to provide a funeral service for your servant. If these events were truly an attack, my companions and I will see that those responsible are punished for their cruel actions. In the meantime, you have my condolences."

He turns back to Garavel. "My lord, as I said earlier, I am Oren, servant of Sarenrae. It is my hope to help you with the task of reclaiming Kelmarane and especially the temple to Sarenrae that is rumored to have been there. Has your camp had any other ill happenings of late? Is there anything that we should be wary of now that our group has arrived? How much further is it to Kelmarane?"

Just waiting for the guards' response before acknowledging Kesh.

Sorry guys got busy doing other stuff today...and this is going to be a rather long post I need to type up...I'll try to have it up by tonight if I can otherewise I'll have it up tomorrow morning...again thank you for your patience

Liberty's Edge

Marossa bows low and silently, her hands at her sides as she was raised to. Without a sound she steps out from the tent and makes her way over towards the cleric. Once she finds the man she bows to him in the same fashion as a way of greeting. When she bends back up she raises up one hand to pull her hair out of the way giving easy sight of the collar around her neck.

"Hello Sir, I hope I am not disturbing you. It's just that I don't know anybody else around the camp and I was hoping to talk with someone. Do fires like that happen often around here?"

Sense Motive Check: 1d20 ⇒ 8
Diplomacy Check: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22

Marossa listens closely to his answer, though she tries not to make it obvious she is scrutinizing the man.

Ripnok:
Dashki looks relieved at the change of subject. [b]Pugwampis are terrible critters who crawled up from the Darklands below the earth. ‘Jackal rats’ some call’em, on account of their pointed little heads. They warship gnolls as gods and infest their communities like rats. Where ever pugwampis go, bad luck is sure to follow and the gnolls hate them because of it. Perhaps their bad luck caused the furtune-man’s candles to start a fire? Yes, pugwampis. I am certain it was pugwampis that started the fire.”

Cahal:
The main guard, a man by the name of Bryant thanks you again for your help earlier. When you question them about the fire all the guards turn a little somber and some look frightened(there are eight of them including Bryant). Bryant speaks for the group. Three of my men and I were standing guard at Almah’s tent when the fire started and we didn’t see anything suspicious at the astrologer’s wagon, but one of my men did catch a glimpse of Dashki trying to hide behind a tree nearby. The man who saw him behind the tree steps up and speaks. It was clear that he was trying to get a look into Almah’s tent. That boy is obsessed with her…we’ve had to rough him up a few times but he just won’t stay away. The original guard continues [b]The other four of my men were enjoying themselves around the feast-fire, finishing off dinner with a drink. Well we all aren’t to fond of Eloais, he’s far to weak to be of any use and he believed in voodoo, None of my men would do anything to harm him. With the level of romance we suspect between Almah and Eloais I’m pretty sure she would have all our heads if any one of us harmed him. Personally, I think that Dashki might have done it because he knew Almah had feelings for Eloais and couldn’t stand having competition…though he stood little chance of winning Almah’s heart as it was already stolen by that twerp Eloais.

Oren:
Almah looks at you a little puzzled as you remain but then relaxes as you ask her questions. So you want to reestablish the church, what a good and noble thing to try to do, but that will be very difficult because as of now its rumored to be uninhabitable. No one knows what happened to it but I’d suspect the gnolls have done something to it. We’re about a days travel from the monastery that was once used as a temple to your god and a few more days travel from Kelmaran. Seeing how this area needs the help of the gods right now, if you can get the monastery reestablished I’m sure it will do the land a lot of good. Yes what a noble servant you are. Tell me, does your god reward you for your extra devotion and nobility?0 The man stays silent as Almah talks to you but doesn’t leave, not sure he’s allowed to leave yet.

Oren make me a sense motive check

Maroosa:
The clerics features brighten as Marossa enters the tent and then darken again as she adjust her hair and the signs of her bondage are made visible to him. He’s used to seeing signs of slavery, but he doesn’t like that a woman so beautiful was kept chained. He smiled and cleared his throat to speak. I was reading a book by the fire-pit before the fire started, but those darn hoodlums Almah calls guards were being to loud and picking on me as usual, so I went to return to my wagon. Just as I got to my feet the fire started. If you’re wondering, it was four of Bryant’s men that were at the fire-pit, so I know none of them could have started it. Besides their far to dedicated to Almah and Bryant to hurt her like that. Did you know that there was supposedly a romance going on between Almah and Eloais? One of her guards told me it had been going on since he arrived in camp. She must be crushed about his death but she’s really much better off, as Eloais was a womanizer and would have ended up breaking her heart anyway. Though its not like the others around here can discuss the poetry of Bellianais or the music of far-off Absalom. For all Eloais’s short comings when it came to the proper treatment of women, he was well traveled and intelligent and he will be missed. If you ask me it seems that Dashki would be the prime suspect, as I turned from the fire towards my wagon I saw him hiding behind a tree. He was probably trying to spy on Almah again…and after her guards had “warned” him to stay away from her. I must admit his obsession with her is rather disturbing…I mean no one with healthy desires skulk’s around a pretty woman the way he does; who knows what a scoundrel like him is capable of? Now that I’ve practically talked your ear off, why don’t you come with me and we’ll see if we can’t get that collar removed?

Sorry for the seperate posts, the spoilers wouldn't work right otherwise...Go ahead and read your individual spoiler and then decide what you do with your new found information.

Cahal's sandburnt eyes turn towards the small hooded figure as the guard Bryant finishes his account. "Well, would you like to ask him again?" While they are walking towards him, he informs Kesh: "They say his name is Dashki, that he has a crush on Almah, whose heart was in Eloais', the burned one, hand... Glad I could help!

Male Dwarf Cleric of Angradd / 2

Oren examines Almah carefully as he listens to her speak.

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17

He nods as he speaks, "Sarenrae gifts me with her blessings when my actions favor her, aye. I am most grateful at the opportunity to restore her temple. I also look forward to aiding in the exploration and recovery of Kelmarane."

Oren you feel as if she's flirting with you, which doesn't seem to quite fit with the mood that she should be in.

Its good to know that you will be rewarded. Are you looking for a more early award for your aspirations?

Garavel clears his throat and seems to be getting uncomfortable. Almah looks at Garavel Oh right...you may go she says waving a hand at him. He quickly turns and walks from the tent, letting out a breath as he gets outside.

Male Dwarf Cleric of Angradd / 2

Oren feels his face warm with color as he recognizes the tone in Almah's voice. Puzzling as her behavior seems he finds himself at something of a loss for words.

"Uhm, I'm not sure that I have done enough, thus far, to warrant any reward. And, of course, to serve where I am needed is generally reward enough."

The cleric absently wonders if his words were making any sense.

Oh but you helped put out the fire, if it weren't for your heroic deeds this camp could have burnt down

Let me know if this gets uncomfortable

Male Goblin Alchemist 1

I have never heard of Pugwampi's. Wouldn't they have left tracks if they were responsible? Perhaps we have someone that could follow their tracks.

Male -Unkown- Sorcerer level 1

Kesh looks at Cahal, his glowing green eyes being the only thing visible on the little hooded creature. "The baths? What does that mean?" He looks back towards Dashki. "Nevermind. I've seen jealousy make people do strange things. I saw Almah. She was pretty, It must be hard for her to lose the man she liked. I was unable to cheer her up. I want to know what this man knows. Are we allowed to torture him I wonder?" With that Cahal would be able to hear Kesh hissing.

"They walk in single file, to hide their numbers...or am I thinking of someone else. Hmm"

Isz attempts to clear his mind enough to come up with something useful.

Knowledge Local: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Male Dwarf Cleric of Angradd / 2

Oren inclines his head in acknowledgement. "Well, I could do nothing less. As I said, it is my honor to serve as well as I am capable." He looks Almah steadily in the eyes. "As I shall endeavor to do in whatever way my lady requires."

I'm actually rather amused by the turn of events. Lady Almah is turning out to be an interesting employer. :)

Ripnok:
The man looks a little frustrated now, glaring slightly and Ripnok. The wind must have blown the tracks. I'm telling you I had nothing to do with it now leave me out of it and be on your way

Isz:
Isz your mind goes blank for a second as you don't seem to know anything about the local area or where to find the Pugwampi's.

Oren:
your lady...do you speak of your goddess or are you bequeathed to another? she looks slightly nervous as she realized she might have been coming onto someone who was already taken and thanks to some events recently she knows how annoying that can be.

Cahal and Kesh walk up to the man: "Peace be upon you, friend. This is a terrible event and we need your help. Did you hear or see anything?"

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16

Male Goblin Alchemist 1

Ripnok will look at the man and then shrug his shoulders and say Well if you say so. He will then go find Isz and the other members of the group that he has been interacting with and tell them what the man said.

Male -Unkown- Sorcerer level 1

When they approach the man Kesh moves out of sight to avoid recognition from the man. He would hide and watch closely to see if the man's story holds the same.

Volley of rolls YAY!
Stealth:1d20 + 11 ⇒ (16) + 11 = 27
Sense Motive:1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7

He will also see if there is anything on Dashki that would be incriminating.

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
You are very not seen kesh...you beat his perception by over 10...
Cahal and anyone else who as approached Dashki are almost knocked off their feet by the smell coming off his body(sorry forgot to mention this). It smells like he hasn't bathed in a few weeks.

Dashki looks really annoyed as Cahal approaches and takes a deep breath. Look I've already told the hooded midget and the green goblin over there he points at Ripnok what happened. But to sum it up Pugwampi's are responsible for the fire, I was hiding behind a tree trying to look into Alma's tent when the fire started. In his frustration with the continued interrogation, he continues to mumble to himself but in a different language. This language seems more...native to him. Ripnok and Cahal make me perception checks.

Others should note this is a different story than what he told last time but Cahal you can tell he's telling the truth.

At this point in time Garavel makes his way to everyone and asks them to meet him in the tent, figuring it would be smart to intervene in what ever was going on in there. He had a feeling that the loss Almah suffered might have knocked a screw loose and she might end up doing something she will regret.

Once Maroosa posts we'll move on. Don't worry we don't mind waiting for you Kiradia. On a side note kesh will be leaving the party and Shanosuke will be bringing in something else. So in the interest of fairness does anyone else want to change their characters, I mean its only fair to offer. I think this party is working out really well actually.

I'm having a lot of fun with Ripnok. I'm going to stay with him.

Perception Check 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

...and Ripnok trips and falls because he doesn't see the sand. We suck at Perception lol.

Ripnok:
I'm going to be nice and give it to you, besides its not that hard to overhear as he is rather angry. He's speaking gnoll(I know its usually a linguistics check to notice these things but I assumed no one had so I improvised. Besides you already know the language)

I like Cahal.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23

Well I didn't see anything but they are responsible for everything that goes wrong around here...they're a plague that infests this land.

Kesh put your new stats here

Male Dwarf Cleric of Angradd / 2

Oren smiles gently. "As you are the force that has gathered us all together, Lady Almah, I was speaking of you." He clears his throat and rubs his hands together.

"For the moment, at least, I am sure there is much that you need to see to and I apologize for keeping you from your tasks. If you are in need of anything, you have but to ask. In the meantime, however, I suspect that there's much left to do in preparing for our final legs of the trip to Kelmarane. Should I perhaps see about gathering my companions together? What would you have of me, Lady Almah?"

No, but I may switch up Isz's personality some. More John Chriton and less Abe Simpson.

Male -Unkown- Sorcerer level 1

Sorry bout the switch up guys. I got this campaign confused with another. Kesh was suppose to be a cold climate campaign with lots of undead. I didn't read the players guide until just a couple of days ago and realized Kesh wasn't meant for this campaign. So I redesigned him and made a new character. This guy fits in much better in this particular campaign.

Kesh wonders what use the caravan is to him. He knew the others regarded him with suspicion and he didn't want to be seen or abused. Instead of sneaking up on Dashki, he went ahead and silently left the camp without the party. No one even saw him depart. Nor would they ever see him again.

Male Sylph Inquisitor Level 1

A stranger made his way to the camp in Kelmarane. He moved in and looked about. He walk up to what looked to be an important tent. He gently peered in seeing what looked like a handsome cleric or paladin and a beautiful young lady.
"Pardon the intrusion but I was wondering. Is this the caravan where I can find Lady Almah and Sir Garavel?" The man looked between the those. "Would that be you?"

Shanosuke's new guy.

Male Goblin Rogue 1
Kesh wrote:

There's a player's guide? That might come in handy. Where would one find such a thing?

Sorry for the delay, thought I had posted already but it seems it didn't go through.

Marossa looks up in surprise at the halfling's suggestion to remove her collar. She remains speechless for a moment before she finds her voice again, reaching up to touch her collar self-consciously.

"You... you mean... I could have this removed right now? I thought I would have to wear it until I had reclaimed Kelmarane for Lady Almah. I... We would have to talk with Lady Almah first yes? She is my Mistress at the moment..."

Marossa's voice is faint with shock and her eyes turn inward as she thinks for a few moments. Her hand drops back to her side as she looks back up.

"Either way Sir... I don't think this is something to be taken care of now." Trying to change the subject she turns to poetry, "You mentioned Bellianais, Sir? I had not thought to meet anyone on this trip who knew about poetry. Do you have any of his works? I love learning new poetry."

IN CAMP:

The conversation between the cleric and Marossa is interrupted by Garavel. He looks at Marossa Sorry to cut this short, but assuming you've found all the information you need, Almah is eager to hear everyone's findings and you've been requested to meet at her tent.

He then gathers up the rest of the party that's outside and escorts everyone to the tent. He looks a little surprised to see a new person standing there and then notices he didn't see the short one with the cloak outside. He shrugged his shoulders and assumed, because Almah didn't seem upset, that everything was on the up in up.

IN THE TENT:

Alma smiles at Oren I was hoping you were speaking of me. And no leave the gathering of your companions to that rock head Garavel...he needs to be good for something other than frusterating me. Besides there is a more pressing matter I would like you to attend to. she says as she walks towards him and then leans in to kiss him. Almah starts as the man peaks his head into the tent, drawing her attention off the young cleric of Sarenrae. She shoots him a look that would have killed him if it could have. Yes I am she, but as you can see I'm a little busy here....Are you one of Garavel's new recruits? If you are you should go try to find him. Now go make leave of my presence I am rather busy. As the man turns to leave Garavel walks in with the rest of the party. Almah growls in frustration then sighs, knowing that the moment has been sufficiently spoiled. Fine...since your all here you might as well tell me what you found.
Almah turns to the rest of the group and smiles a little, though she still looks slightly disappointed that her fun with Oren had been interrupted.

Got to love lazy DMing...new guy shows up and then gets automatically thrown into the party...lol. Go ahead and tell her what you all have learned individually.

I should mention that I won't be able to post after tonight at 11 PM CST until Tuesday as I'm going on a vacation and won't have internet access. Sorry to have to take a break just when the story was getting good.

"Pugwampis did it."

Male Dwarf Cleric of Angradd / 2

Oren blinks his eyes several times as the situation changes direction entirely.

Then he looks to Cahal. "A who did what?" Realizing he'd spoken a little sharply, Oren smiles and moves closer to the group. "I'm sorry, what's a Pugwamp?"

Bluff: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

Feigning shock: "You mean you DON'T KNOW?!?" Then looks at Alma for her to clarify for the less erudite among us.

Male Sylph Inquisitor Level 1

Jesail thinks for a minute. He had a lot of experience slaying various beasts native to the region. Pugwampi sounded like one of them.

I talked with Mathpro, its a knowledge nature check to know what they are. I'm gonna roll for mine.

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27

Male Sylph Inquisitor Level 1

AWESOME! I know EVERYTHING!!!

Jesail turned to the group "Pugwampis are the lowest form of gremlin. They are generally trouble makers common to the area. They are small about a foot or two in height. They usually love to cause deadly pranks. Pits filled with spiders, lacing foods with poisons, causing damage to things so they break down later. A nuisance more than anything else. They can be dangerous, only if they have set up some kind of trap or prank. Did they do something to cause any harm?"
Jesail looks at the others waiting for their response.

Male Goblin Alchemist 1

Ripnok is stunned for a second at the flood of information. Umm...yes there was a large fire that consumed one of the wagons and killed one of the travellers with us. Is there a way to track them?

Male Sylph Inquisitor Level 1

Jesail's eyes flared with a moment of rage. "Filthy little beast those Pugwampi's! I swear no matter how many I slay there are still enough of them to cause trouble!. Suddenly Jesail notices the goblins in the tent. "What is this? Where did you little monsters come from?"
Jesail reaches for his crossbow.

He's had to kill many goblins so players, don't be offended. Character's can be plenty offended if they want.

Male Dwarf Cleric of Angradd / 2

"Stay your hand, stranger," Oren holds up his own hands to intervene. "Difficult as it may be to believe, these goblins are not as you might commonly come to expect. They have travelled with us for some time and aside from some queer turns of phrase, they have shown remarkable restraint and common cause with us."

The cleric inclines his head and touches his holy symbol with the palm of his right hand. "I am Oren Tor, faithful of Sarenrae. How are you called?"

I knew it was Knowledge Nature but, alas, Oren is untrained so he was unable to make a check. Great roll!

Male Sylph Inquisitor Level 1

Jesail pauses for a moment looking at the two little creatures and decides not to attack. "IF you say they are friendly then I will leave them alone, as long as they stay friendly" He turns to Oren.

"I am Jesail Ash. Grand inquisitor of the lady Shelyn. I fight to preserve beauty and love across the land. I believe that Sarenrae and Shelyn's goals are not to far apart so if you don't mind, I'd consider you a brother in that regard. Now what is our first task? Hunting Pugwampi?" Jesail turns to look at Almah.

Note on appearance. Jesail is tall, about 6' 6". HE wears a fine emboidered velvet cloak and rugged traveling clothes underneath. His most unique feature is his hair and skin. His skin is very pale and his hair is almost white with a hue of green to it. He wears his hood, Like in is avatar pic, His exposed hair seems to be flowing as if there was a good breeze blowing it, but you are inside the tent.

Mathpro is out of town. :-(. He wont be posting for a while so I guess wee gotta wait.
