Is there a size limit to what can be made a magic item, if so why?

Rules Questions

My group and I cant find an answerer, if there’s no size limit then why is there no magic vehicles.

Pathfinder Rulebook, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

There are. Flying Carpets, Apparatus of Kwalish, Foldable Boat, etc are all magic vehicles. Also, check out the old 3.5 Eberron campaign setting. It has magic airships, trains, horseless carriages, etc.

Hmm...

Step 1: Commision a suit of masterwork padded barding big enough to fit the tarrasque (310 gp).
Step 2: Make it into an intelligent +1 item (+1500 gp). Add the abilities of speech, 120' blindsense and fly (+16500 gp).
Step 3: Voila! You have a bad-ass magic blimp -- complete with sonar, headlights, and PA system -- for less than the cheapest magic carpet (18,310 gp vs. 20,000 gp).

(The only problem is that your blimp doesn't have a Str score...)

There's nothing in the rules that states there can't be magic vehicles. They're just not the "staple" magic items which the PFCR provides. Creativity on the part of your crafters (and the GM!) are encouraged here.

This has a number of vehicles, including air ships, but I don't recall off the top of my head if they are magical or mechanical - I think there are examples of both types.

I don't know if it helps you, but Akiton is actually one of my ioun stones.
