I ran a side-quest for my campaign yesterday where the characters left Sandpoint to go hunt down the Sandpoint Devil within the Pit on Devil's Platter. Sad to say, the Devil left the party with two fatalities and a serious maiming (the character lost his right arm - he was killed, but had 2 hero points to spend to survive).
And so the Legend of the Sandpoint Devil grows...

What really burned my party was the baying.

My party fought a slightly-updated (i.e. PFRPG-ized) Sandpoint Devil in the interlude between the 2nd and 3rd books of Runelords.
The devil rolled in its preternatural fog, snatched the sheep, the party broke out nets, the creature bayed (the party surprising, made its saves), and they unleashed its hellfire breath, doing serious damage to the party. Then the creature retreated to its den in The Pit, at the top of the Devil's Platter. And so, the party climbed the cliff face at night to pursue the beast, only to find Shalelu Andosana there, attempting to track down a tribe of child-snatching, Lamashtu-worshipping bugbears.
I had previously drawn up a map for The Pit, and connected it via limestone chimney to the lair of said bugbears. Much epic dungeoning ensued. The Devil managed to drop two party members, and its cursed breath hindered the party's barbarian through the ensuing bugbear fights.
All in, all, not a beast to be trifled with. The Sandpoint Devil is pretty much the Jersey Devil's jock older brother. >:3

Any chance of getting a look at your addon? My players are chomping at the bit (no pun intended) to take on the SD and sounds like you have done some great work at fleshing out the Pit...
Thanks

Since my group is sadly spread about the country, I drew the Pit and the Bugbear Lair by hand on grid paper, then used Photoshop for the battle maps, different text layers standing in for tokens/figs of the various characters and such. I can see about working backwards to get to the starting point (since it was saved in the last round of combat), or I can just give you the map and my notes about what lurked in there. Thoughts/preferences?

H'okay, done, finally. I expanded my random notes to a semi-workable writeup, and included it, all my notes, my PSD map file, and three .jpg versions of the map (unkeyed, keyed with room numbers, keyed and monster-populated). The entire package is a 4.8 MB .zip file:
The Pit, Homebrew Edition
Enjoy and tell me what you think!

Can't wait to check it out in the morning~! I've been rocketing through Skinsaw Murders and dont want to slow down now... but this may just be the ego boost my monster hunter PC needs!

Awesome stuff - exactly what I was looking for with regards to the Sandpoint Devil encounter...
Very good work!
Thanks again.

It took a while but we got there...and I can tell you my players loved it!
It was well balanced with regards to the encounters and they enjoyed fighting the BBEG at the start of the mini-adventure rather than the end!
Congrats - much appreciated!

Sorry, hadn't noticed the requests since my Runelords game was on hiatus. I should also note that now, with the release of Jade Regent and the expanded Sandpoint Hinterlands gazetteer in the first book, the canon Pit has been reimagined as a massive (100' wide!) entrance to the Darklands, meant to be an unwritten, much more massive complex. My version is a one-session mini-dungeon.
That said, reuploaded to a personal Dropbox thing:
The Pit, Homebrew Edition reup
Enjoy!

I have MAYBE found "The Pit" by Daviot. It's here:
I have no idea if that's actually his work, but it's the only "the pit" battlemaps I can find that have any hint of being tied to Rise of the Runelords.
Unfortunately, the maps come with no details about the rooms, encounters, etc. But it's the best I can find.
