Paladin level 5 ability. What to pick, mount, enchanting weapon buff, or armor buff?

Advice

For the level 5 Divine Bond, I don't know what to pick for my paladin.

I am in a low magic campaign, where I can see have something that would enchant your weapon, even temporary would be use, since enchantments are apparently rare. "Really don't know much yet.", but that time limit and the all might "ONCE PER DAY" makes it less then desirable when I could have a constant extra ally around.

Then again, I think the DM might cheat me out of my mount in some way. I've had experience where the DM would take things like familiars and animal companions as troll potential, and kill them when ever they can. "You left your horse outside the bar? Some one steals/kills/posses it." I've had a good experience with this DM and animal companions, but I usually pick small animals with him.

I would honestly bring your concerns about the mount to your DM, just citing concerns you've seen from others' experiences. I went with mount but that was half because the GM had a story point about allying with dragons down the line. I did get a good amount of mileage out of spirited charge (due to some house ruling on feats intelligent animals can take) and it could be pretty damn nasty. Are you largely in open areas or is it taking place mostly in confined space? This can really impact how much use an animal ally can be due to space limitations.

Also I think you only get the armor buff on certain archetypes so double-check on that.

I'd go for weapon personally. That once a day is what you will need for the BBEG fights and if you can get a +1 sword later then enchancing that blade can pay off... Also is it also low level as a campaign? If not then sooner or later you'll get the ramp up on the Divine Weapon.

depends on the campaign.

if campaign actually has a use for a mount than take the mount.

htere are more to mounts than just horses, but if it has no mounted combat, than your better off with the weapon.

ask your DM

Bonded Weapon. Horses in dungeons don't usally work out well, depending on your DM of course. It is more difficult to get a pally to depart with his weapon then his horse for a DM that likes taking stuff away. Low magic campain...just icing on the cake.

I honestly don't know yet. it sounds like we might be seeing a lot of cramp spaces. I am only allowed non-spell casting variant of paladin. I was going to go full plate, tower shield build.

He seems determine to want have very little magical items.

Then Bonded weapon could be the best for you.

Is the GM also running it as E6?
