Wizard Familiar connection and Oralce of Life's Life Link

Rules Questions

Grand Lodge

I was thinking of how to send a player deep, deep, deep into trouble and still have my Oracle's Life Link function. I will post part of it here:

Life Link (Su): As a standard action, you may create a bond between yourself and another creature. ... You may have one bond active per oracle level. This bond continues until the bonded creature dies, you die, the distance between you and the other creature exceeds medium range, or you end it as an immediate action.

This oracle took a level of multiclass wizard with a familiar. Because of Empathetic link, If the bonded creature carried my familiar, would the distance between me and the other creature never exceed medium range? The Bonded player is never more than 1' away from 'you'

Empathic Link (Su): The master has an empathic link with his familiar to a 1 mile distance. The master can communicate emphatically with the familiar, but cannot see through its eyes. Because of the link's limited nature, only general emotions can be shared. The master has the same connection to an item or place that his familiar does.

Just trying to send a scout into a situation and assure the Oracle can heal them. Any other longer than medium range thoughts?

I may be wrong but I have always read the connection reference in the familiar Empathic Link as applying to "Arcane Connections" for purposes such as scrying, teleporting, etc... It does not extend the range of spells even if those spells are targeted at your familiar. You could use the link to teleport to your familiar or to scry, etc... but it would not let you cast say cure light wounds or mage armor on your familiar from a distance. Even if the familiar is delivering a touch spell you must touch your familiar to transfer the "charge" to it.

Liberty's Edge

I've gotta say, I don't see the connection here. I'd never let this fly as a GM.

Just because you have an empathic link (not even a telepathic one!) with a familiar, that doesn't mean you actually become the familiar. Life Link ends if the distance between you and the other creature exceeds medium range. As I am not my familiar and my familiar is not me, I can't see this working.

The OP was probably looking at:

Share Spells wrote:
Share Spells: The wizard may cast a spell with a target of “You” on his familiar (as a touch spell) instead of on himself. A wizard may cast spells on his familiar even if the spells do not normally affect creatures of the familiar's type (magical beast).

You aren't casting on the familiar, are you?

This is how I see it too.
