Character sheet

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

Hi everyone,

I have been playing PF for 3 months now. And I'm loving it!
The thing that surprises me is that Paizo does not have a sheet that keeps track of everything on your computer.
There are so many thing that interact with each other. Keeping track of it all on your pen and paper sheet can be hard. Specially for new players.

I have been using PCgen. But it leaves much to be desired for.
What do you guy's use?

Thanks!

Well, if limited to pencil and paper, you could have a sheet protector over your character sheet and mark temporary changes with dry-erase markers. Or just use a seperate sheet of paper for temporary changes.

I'm not limited to P&P.
But I don't understand why Paizo does not have one for on the PC.
Do you have a program of excel file you use?

Well, first off, Paizo doesn't do computer programs as far as I know. There may be something available from another company. Personally, I just use a word processor on my laptop.

Lone Wolf Development

Other than PCGen, there are a number of Excel-based character sheets and one commercial program named Hero Lab that are specifically tailored to Pathfinder. Every option has its respective strengths and weaknesses. I'm obviously biased towards Hero Lab, since I'm one it's original developers. Hero Lab's primary strengths are that it has a dedicated full-time team developing it and that it's the only officially licensed tool for Pathfinder. Consequently, Hero Lab contains all Pathfinder content (i.e. no restrictions to just OGL content) and new content is added as close to the actual release of new supplements as possible (typically within a few weeks or faster). The obvious drawback of Hero Lab is that it isn't free, but it seems the vast majority of our users consider the value to be well worth the investment (based on numerous posts throughout the Paizo forums).

You'll find more information about Hero Lab both over on the publisher's website and here on the Paizo forums. You can download and test drive Hero Lab for free, with the only limitations being that you can't save a character or physically print one (although you can use Print Preview).
