Actually, night ambushes have a lesser effect on a sleeping fullplater if.. he is smart about it.
Whenever I play my heavy armor guys I always have an armored coat I sleep in (standard Action to Equip). And I plan on later on to acquire the Iron man plate-mail. (brooch of folding plate.)
Since you can sleep in light armor, I tend to always do.

and if the summoner is smart about it, he sleeps holding a lesser rod of quicken spell in his hand and instantly casts summon eidolon when he wakes up. Not that this is an answer early on.
Otherwise, he just casts it regularly. And he will have his fused eidolon on the next round. In each case both the full plate wearer and the summoner lost their first round. So it is not like you are jumping into action later as a summoner.

Eidolons are specifically immune to the 'stops you touching / attacking them' bit of Protection from 'X' and similar effects, if it helps... They're also specifically immune to being banished via Dispel Magic... (APG page 55).
And summon eidolon specifically states they lose those abilities while summoned this way.

So the weakness of the summoner is ''being attacked at night by an evil caster with dispel magic or protection from alignment''? I think I can live with that. :)

Control person for example, or control summoned creature. (since it is still summoned.)
No. Wrong. This is a bad train of thought. it is NOT a summoned creature. It is not summoned using a "Summon Monster" spell, or any variation there of. If it was, then Augment Summoning would affect the Eidolon. And it was clearly stated by the delv's that it does NOT affect the Eidolon. Any arguements which say that it is a summoned creature, in the since that the spell Control Summoned Creature can take control of it, are wrong.
EDIT:
I should clarify that by this, I mean when you use the ritual, not a spell.
