How do you deactivate Boots of Speed?

As a free action, the wearer can click her heels together, letting her act as though affected by a haste spell for up to 10 rounds each day. The haste effect's duration need not be consecutive rounds.

Do you spend a free action each round to keep them going?

If not, how do you shut them off?

My take on it:

When you activate the boots, you decide how many rounds' worth you want to use. But generally speaking, there's no point in using more than one round's worth at a time, since it's a trivial action to reactivate. So yes, you would spend a free action every round activating them.

I have always used a free action to deactivate them.

As far as keeping them going, they keep going until you turn them off.

Take the boots off...

Shadow Lodge

I kind of think a more interesting question is how do you turn an inquisitors bane ability off?

It's a swift action to fire up. Is it a swift action to cancel? Free action?

There are a fair number of powers similar to this now (swift to start, split-able duration, not specified how to end).
