For the folks at Paizo, Prestige Classes!

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

I think that with the overwhelming amount that we have seen on the boards concerning pristage classes that the folks of Paizo would give us a book of prestige classes book, possibly a Players companion: guide to Pristage classes of Golarion" with a collection of pristage classes, revamping the old ones that were not featured in the core rules and APG I.E Heirophant and Archmage (Yes they have feats that somewhat emulate them to a much lesser extent but sometimes we just want the damn prestige class, not a redheaded stepchild beaten down version in feats)

this way it would make the MAAANY people who desperately want Prestige classes in Pathfinder happy while not making it part of the core rule set so those who hate them can just ignore them. I mean, there is obviously a split between those who want and those who do not so why not just take your time, do it right, and publish it for those who do want it and let the sales speak for them selves? if it doesnt sell then ok we tried, if it does..? Keep em coming!

The problem is that even if you make it Golarion specific that it now becomes available for PFS. I don't play PFS, but I can see them not being about having to see one more book at the table.

It would also be prestige classes, just for the sake of prestige classes. Before I go any farther I am not in the anti-PRC camp, but I don't want a book full of nothing but PrC's. With the archetypes I am sure there is not a whole lot left that WoTC put out that can't be made currently.

There are a few things I would like to see. It does not matter to me if I need a feat chain, archetype, new base class, or PrC to make it though.

I want something similar to the master thrower, but better or a dagger throwing focused option. I guess other small weapons would work also.

I think rather than trying to shoehorn things into Prc's it is better to list things you want to see that you can't do now, and let Paizo decide how to do it.

On a side note, the best master thrower (which I want as well) that I've developed is a shuriken based wizard/fighter/EK. Greater Magic Weapon turns 50 shuriken into magic weapons for hours per level, and arcane strike can make all the daggers you throw for a round magical by sacrificing a swift action.

I can understand about not wanting it in Society play, but i think it would be fantastic to have a book just of Prc's because then those who want to get into a Prc can get the book and those who utterly distaine it can avoid it. Honestly i'd love tow see one for Archetypes too.

My main point, as i'm sure its been said a million times before as these threads are numerous, is that Prestige Classes are a core part of the D20 system, now i love the fact that Paizo has made taking one class 1-20 that is not a caster, viable and even fun, but you just cant get the same thing that Prc's give you with archetypes. Like if i want to do a cleric/stalwart defender, i can do that, and have fun without having to play a paladin. and i even get a cool capstone ability at 15th! and things like Mystic theurge, True necromancer, the warlock/cleric prestige and many others that were just damn fun to play. I know many people hated Prc's because it promotes Multiclassing and cherry picking and thats why they like archetypes because they give you options but do not allow you to cherry pic there abilities. To this I say: to each there own, some players like that, others enjoyed going into a class for 2-5 lvls for abilities that were well outside there classes and could not get otherwise: aka Survivor from Savage species with a class that wasn't a rogue/monk. it was alot of fun, and especially since Prc's had unique abilities that you just couldn't find in base classes. Like the Grey guards Justice blade. "I SMITE EVERYTHING!" which was amazing since you weren't useless if your dm threw Thieves and others who weren't necessarily evil. so your smite evil was not useless.

anways. I do not want to turn this into yet ANOTHER thread of "Pro Prc's vs Anti Prc's " I just want to come up with ideas that Paizo can print more Pristage classes that can satisfy those who want it while allowing those who do not to just breeze over it.

Please list your suggestions on how this can be done.

I don't like being within 10 feet though, not than I am expecting bow range. At least 30 feet. Those shurikens get expensive after a while also.

Yeah I know I am being picky. :)

The best way to get a book of PrC is to get a 3pp to make it, not pathfinder. That makes it not "core" or eligible for organized play.

Far shot cuts the penalty in half (30 ft away, -2 penalty, no big deal) and if you prepare mending, you can repair your shurikens during lunch, on watch, etc. Also, if you go the Arcane Strike route, you can carry around a bag of javelins instead. My favorite thrown weapon Prestige Class was actually the storm lord.

Must admit that I'm not missing PrCs at all. A book of PrCs related to Golarion organisations with NPC/villains in it could be quiet useful though and no doubt appeal to GMs and players.

Sovereign Court

A new Prestige Class would have to fill some kind of roll or concept that couldn't already be built with the current classes, arch-types, feats and so forth.

I've yet to have a character concept that I can't make with what is presently available. This idea seems way more 3PP.

Grand Lodge

Since I'm not buying any more products, by all means make a prestige class book. :)

Sovereign Court

Not even the bestiary 3?

Grand Lodge

Probably not. Maybe for my wife. She likes the monster art. But it certainly won't be until the second printing.

Sovereign Court

My wife hogs all the bestiaries and monster manuals i have because she likes to look at the pictures too. I sometimes have to pry them out of her hands for a game :D

Grand Lodge

If it has more dragons, I'm going to have to get it for her. XD
