Are skill points retroactive when your Int increases?

If your Int modifier increases do you get extra skill points for previous levels? For example if you reach 8th level rogue and your Int rises from 15 to 16 (+3) do you get an extra skill point for the previous 7 levels added to your new 8th level pool?

In short, yes. I can hunt around for the rules on this, but suffice to say that the answer is yes. This is the reason that headbands that grant an INT bonus have skills associated with them. Also, it was decided upon for ease in making high level characters. You just look at the current INT and figure skill points rather than having to figure out at each level what their INT was.

Scarab Sages

Correct, the answer is yes.

If someone could show this in RAW i would be very happy.

Ugh:

Quote:

Ability bonuses with a duration greater than 1 day actually increase the relevant ability score after 24 hours. Modify all skills and statistics related to that ability. This might cause you to gain skill points, hit points, and other bonuses. These bonuses should be noted separately in case they are removed.

It has been stated by the developers somewhere around here.

EDIT: Here it is

It also makes Intelligence Drain, the most annoying thing ever, as you have to remove set skill ranks...

Thanks for the link with the quote from jason.
I had read the raw as it modified it going forward, but not retroactively, infact my whole group had.

Yes, the devs have argued that there was no need to call it out because it was an exception in 3.5, and is consistent now. I am curious why they had to repeatedly talk about spellcasters not losing spells when knocked unconscious, if that is the case..."exactly as if they had never been unconscious" seems to carry it fairly well, to me.

Note that int gains from a headband of Int or similar item are handled in a specific way.
