Spatial Convergence
School conjuration (teleportation); Level sorcerer/wizard 5
Casting Time 1 standard action
Components S, M (two tiny metal rings, one blue and one orange)
Range Close (25 ft. +5 ft./2 levels)
Effect Two 5 ft. radius portals.
Duration 1 round/level
Saving Throw Reflex; see text; SR No
You create two open portals on flat surfaces within range, connected through space such that things may pass through them.
When you cast the spell, you choose two flat surfaces of at least 5 ft. square. These surfaces may be of any orientation but must not be rough or irregular (any space that would impart a movement penalty is an invalid space).
A creature in a space where you create a portal may make a reflex save to avoid falling into it. Large creatures cannot fall through a portal accidentally and must squeeze to fit through. Huge or larger creatures cannot pass through a portal.
The portals appear and are treated as contiguous edges of the two spaces they are adjacent to. Creatures may move, draw line of sight, draw line of effect and attack through them as if they were doing so normally. If a creature moves through a portal and the destination is at a different angle, the creature must make a DC 10 acrobatics check to reorient itself. Momentum is conserved if a moving object or creature passes through a portal, and gravity takes effect on it according to its new orientation.
If a surface a portal is on is moved or destroyed, the spell ends.
When the spell ends, any object or creature partway through the portals has a 50% chance of being shunted to the space on either end.

Rod of Apertures
Aura strong conjuration; CL 20th
Slot none; Weight 6 lbs
This unusual artifact appears as a mechanical rod with a pair of triggers and a large white ovoid built around it. A trigger may be pulled as a move or immediate action, which creates a portal as spatial convergence at the space the rod is pointed at, except that the range is unlimited. Only two portals may be extant at any time. If another is created, one of the others immediately disappears (caster's choice). If only one portal has been created, it appears as a whirling, opaque pool and cannot be passed through.
