Why doesn't Expeditious Excavation scale?

Rules Questions

That's it, really. I have a construction-mage who is wondering why he has to cast so many 1st level spells to dig out a basement, when his Magic Missile spell improves as he gains levels.

Solution (from a player in one of my groups): Create undead and have them dig. Also works well in combination with the rock to mud spell. :)

Get a Lyre of Building. You can still use it one hour per week without ranks in perform. Or redesign this item into a staff or something that makes sense for a wizard and use a spellcraft check instead of a perform check.

Liberty's Edge

Because if it scales, then you basically have to ability to change the battlefield.

If you don't think Paizo considers this a powerful ability, look at the level of Move Earth.

Fair point - and one I should have thought of, since I actually had Move Earth open in a tab right next to Expeditious Excavation. Now, if E-E scaled, Move Earth wouldn't need to exist.

Perhaps my example caster needs to hit the books and design a spell that does this...
