Synthesist Question

Advice

Hey I was looking at the Synthesist for the Summoner and had a few questions about it.

1. It says you use it's base attack bonus but then it says you gain its natural armor and ability scores. So do you add on the armor/ability scores or just replace yours?

2. About the attacks and spells casted. Let's say your Eidolon has 3 attacks and ability to use magic. Can it cast magic/or attack then you can do your own attack or cast magic? Or can you only attack the max times for your Eidolon or cast a spell instead?

1. You gain them as bonuses. Most times this means replacing a previous bonus in the case of natural armor and armor bonuses if you already have some and there's is higher. You gain any increases to ability scores they get through evolutions. There's a lot of scary minmaxing potential here on par with the 3.5 druid.

2. It says that the eidolon and the summoner cannot take separate actions. You are effectively one creature. So you can either do all of your attacks or cast a spell.

Thanks! That answered all the questions I had!

Pardon me for asking about the ability scores of the synthesist summoner and his eidolon. But just to clarify:

If a 1st level synthesist has a normal Strength of 8 but has a bipedal eidolon with its base Strength of 16, when he's 'wearing' his eidolon he gets a Strength of 16 just like the eidolon.

Or does he add the eidolon's Strength to his own score for a total strength of 24?

I'm assuming he has a score of 16, with the eidolon's strength replacing his and not getting added to it.

Also, does the synthesist eidolon get the by-level bonuses to strength and dexterity that the normal summoner's eidolon does, or not?

I know that some of those questions will sound foolish, but I'd like to be sure of some things about this archetype before I get the book.

Your assumption is correct. He has a strength score of 16. The eidolons base physical stats replace his own. So if the eidolon s bases would increase in any of these stats due to by level bonuses so does the combined synthesist.
