You are correct in your assumption. The same situation goes for everyone else.
But do not worry you will have the chance to regain your equipment and then some during the course of the adventure.
@Radavel - can I assume we can price things we can actually make at fabrication costs? (ie. half price)
Is there a limit to what we can spend on each item?

No limits on equipment; you can fabricate them if you have the proper item creation feats or craft skills; but if there is an XP cost them you will have to pay that off by reducing present XP.
N.B. you guys will not start with equipment in your possession. Your jailers would have confiscated them before turning you to stone. What I can guarantee is that you will get a chance to recover them during the course of the game. But be prepared to have your stuff used against you.
Vhailor now at 95% done - just need to select languages and fill in some minor combat details.

@Safrac - I have assumed that you can only use creation costs if you can make the item yourself. So if you have some item creation feats it should be kosher.
Do I have to make a list of gear? I am working out a background which has him in multiple jails and that he had been in the one before this for a pretty long time. I am cool with not having any gear so could I just send you a list of things I think would be cool to have and let you decide if and how I might find and acquire them?
@Radavel - have made a few adjustments to Vhailor to reflect my growing character evolution.
Dropped Int, Wis and Dex slightly to make room for Strength. Changed out Weapon Finesse for Power Attack. Swapped cat's grace and bull's strength on extract list. All other options maintained and no change to gear.
Intent is for him to now be an up-front fighter going to Master Chymist next level. Would you allow the Vivisectionist sneak attack to keep progressing from Master Chymist? - the levels stack for bomb damage, so not too much of a stretch.
Okay, here is a very rough inquisitor. I will write up the background (spotlighting the so called misdeeds), but I am getting the UM pdf tomorrow and may make changes to the character according to what I can't live without.
I think the average starting wealth for 7th level is 23,500 gp.
@ Aardvark - I cant find anything like that Tomb Tainted Soul feat. Isnt Pathfinder supposed to be backwards compatable with 3.5?

The feat Tomb-tainted soul is in either Libris Mortis or Heroes of Horror (both are fairly good resources for an Evil campaign).
It lets you basically treat healing as if you were undead. Healed by negative, harmed by positive. It was a nice addition if you played a necro cleric. Throw out the radius inflict, heal all your undead and self, hurt all enemies.

- Night Caller - This whistle is transparent, weighty and resemble a small dragon curled up like a snail. When blown over a grave containing a body in darkness or at night, the corpse below claws its way to the surface. The Zombie serves the whistle blower faithfully until destroyed as per the animate dead spell. Can be used once a week however the whistler can have no more than two zombie followers at a time.

I was when originally thinking caster, but not so much as the Anti-paladin. If later as a group we all (mostly) decide to use it it would be useful, but as individuals not as much.

Smiling at the innuendos and thinking little more of it, I cast detect magic, holding it concentrated on Ashley Rose for the 3 or 4 rounds necessary for me to find out. If an answer is forthcoming, then a smile is noticable, otherwise I hold my own council.

I think that maybe too unbalanced. However, you are free to look at the other options available from the other vile books I just allowed usage, i.e. Libris Mortis and the Book of Vile Darkness.

I know that we start sans equipment. What is listed is from the character as it stood when I created it for another game. The background is likewise for a CotCT game. I will be expanding upon both the equipment and the background. I am running at Texicon this weekend, so it will likely be next week when I get the background and equipment list created.
