FAQ

Does a wizard (or other character that uses a spellbook), receive bonus spells to add to his spellbook when he gains a level in a prestige class that grants an increase to spellcasting? No. The increase to his spellcasting level does not grant any other benefits, except for spells per day, spells known (for spontaneous casters), and an increase to his overall caster level. He must spend time and gold to add new spells to his spellbook.

This....

What does that mean for Eidolon progression? Would that make the Eidolon "level", or no? I know it goes toward spell DC's...

Not asking wether or not it is good to multiclass a summoner, just if the eidolon would progress :)

The eidolon’s Hit Dice, saving throws, skills, feats, and abilities are tied to the summoner’s class level...

Your Eidolon would not advance. Your casting would but not any other class feature {which the Eidolon is)

So yes more spells but your pet would not gain more level unless you advance your levels in the Summoner class.

The summoner class level is not affected by levels in eldritch knight -- thus it stays the same and the eidolon becomes stagnant.
