Leopards as animal Druid animal companions

Rules Questions

Sovereign Court

In the core rule book for Druids Cheetah & Leopards are both listed as small cats with a single stat block. The stats listed there don't match the stats in the bestiary for the leopard. Which stat block should I be referencing. Mostly I am interested in their special qualities. The PCR lists low-light vision, scent, and sprint (at 4th level). The bestiary lists pounce & rake.

You go by the druid list. In many cases the druid list doesn't match up with the Bestiary entry, but this is balanced over the course of the Animal Companion's growth

You use the stats listed for it in the animal companion section of the core rulebook. Animal companion stats and abilities are different than the normal version of an animal. (Take a look at the full t-rex stats in the bestiary and the animal companion version stats, for example!)

thanks.

If u like leopards, and want pounce, you could always use a lion or tigers stats and refluff it as a leopard. Pending dm approval of course.

That sounds like it would work, but I was trying to avoid a large companion. This is a one time use character for a Pathfinder Society module at 8th level. Mods in society play are often not suited to large creatures.

Yeah, large companions can be problematic.
Isn't there a reduce animal spell which makes animals smaller though?

Yup, Reduce Animal. 1hr/level. Would probably work, but I already feel like I don't have enough spells. I think that I will be OK with sprint, scent, and low light vision. Also I set up this cat to have spring attack. That should help.

Just ask the DM to swap the abilities.

Scarab Sages

You're also not required to do the size increase, though that might also stop you from getting pounce. Not sure.
