I am going to assume that unless we have a massive change in things we are going with the Sea Wolves out of Sargava, meaning our squad makeup is thus:
The Sea Wolves 3rd Squad, 2nd Company
Currently Stationed in Sargava Colony
Corporal Ielorion “Icy” Valorious Half-elf Wizard/Fighter 3rd Level - Leadership
Pvt Cortland Broadcloak - Mobile Fighter (Human, Disgraced Swordlord)
Pvt Grusk II - Mobile Rogue, Ranged Support (Half-Orc, New Recruit)
Pvt Darkbiter - Shapeshifting Ranger, Scout and Combat Support (Beastial Half-Orc, Raised Wild)
Pvt Denison Delgado - Arcane Duelist, Melee Support (Human, Acts in Battle inspire troops, Pathfinder Connections)
Pvt Kaavel Dryearatham - Monk of the Four Winds, Primary Melee (Half - Elf, No Known Importance of Background)There. I tried to write them from the view of an outsider to the squad, though they would be a bit of what we know of each other at first. If anyone feels I did something wrong there please correct me, and when Monkeygod gets her Dervish/Duelist ready we will have a squad.
PS: Also assuming Yucales request to leave the squad is honored.
Here is the list.

Hey guys.... sorry about the missingness for the last few days. I'm back. Cort will have spent this round waking up and getting himself together.
Yay, New DM.
And If we're reiterating such.
1) Got it all up in the profile.
2)Flanking, Quick fighter
3)Recent Hire, about a month in squad
4)A worshipper of Shelyn prone to bright colors. Losers scars on both cheeks and a maimed right hand. Usually fairly quiet but gets extremely animated when discussing his past, battles, or swordplay techniques.

Sentis Spinis |

big <thumbsup> to the Voice of the Voiceless for helping keep this game moving. Thanks!
1)Profile complete. History to be expanded upon with in game dialogue or memories inspired from in game events.
2)Scout, Combat Support with spells and steel.
3)Very recent hire having just arrived before the buffalo commotion.
4)Sentis is somewhat unsure of how he'll fare working with a group of others. He's never really had a family and only a few friends. Darkbiter being one of them. But he very much wants to be part of the 'pack'.

DM - Pentor |
Kudos to DM - Voice of the Voiceless for co-GMing!
I'm still around though and will be keeping a close eye on things but Voice will be taking the lead on this game and I'll be chiming in where necessary.
Mainly I'll be throwing in hilarious quips and pictures of myself dressed as a leprechaun. I have also been thinking that people that go missing without letting us know, for more than a week will be automatically replaced with a new player. Their character will still be alive but we will pretend that he got sent to another squad in the company. Does anybody have any problems with that?

Ryuko |

Ryuko - having a scan through your profile, how did you end up with a -2 to Perception? Based on your Wis of 8 that should only be a -1?
Plus a defaulting penalty of one... am I getting my systems mixed up again. Pathfinder takes a -1 on skills that you have no ranks in correct. I'll go look it up.
EDIT: I am incorrect. No defaulting penalty in Pathfinder. I guess I do only have a -1 on Perception. Good to know.

DM - Pentor |
About awarding treasure guys, your squad has to tithe a part of your loot back to the Company. This is set on a scale and depends on your Rank within the Company. Currently you have to tithe 5% of the total gold and mundane treasure that you loot. Magical weapons and items are exempt from this tithing.
Once you go up in rank you will have to tithe more and pay a nominal membership fee of some kind, but you will be able to access more of the companies resources, e.g getting a Raise Dead spell cast on your corpse for free, and even take command of other squads depending on your rank and the mission.
I'm thinking about using three ranking systems - Officers, NCOs and Veterans. Officers get the chance to lead squads and choose mission later on in game, while NCOs get to run a squad and lead a bunch of mercs to glorious victory or a hideous death, while Veterans are just part of the rank and file but have been around so long that they have gained a bunch of respect and their name is spoken with fear, awe, disgust or a combination of those things by their fellow mercs.
Ok suggestions for the ranking system?

A watch schedule and generalized marching order would be helpful.
There will be three watches - so you can have 2 per watch and one floating
For marching order, just general terms are fine - like if you ride at the front, lag behind, range out tracking, etc.
One other issue is we are about to head into the jungle ... where things will get a bit more 'fun'. I'd like you to state any specific precautions you take while on the march.

Darkbiter |

1)see profile for basic background
2)scout/melee support
3)Been with the squad 5 months now, this being his first time back to the jungle since joining
4)Grew up in the jungle and on ships along the coastline, was found by a Blood Hawk recruit, and after a brief period of training in which he proved himself quite capable of working within the military structure of the group, was assigned to the Steel Wolves; while able to deal with people, he is clearly eager to be returning to where he is most comfortable.

Ryuko |

I think Cort should be the floater since he has the - to perception. We should try to team up the watch up people with high and low perception scores in case in the pair.
Prolly a good idea... though for rp reasons I'd rather pair with Blaze. Up to the group I suppose

Darkbiter |

Darbkiter and Grusk on middle watch works well, as does Doc and Sentis for last watch. Kaavel and the two duelists for the 1st watch is good. That gives us three on the first watch, when both the diurnal and nocturnal animals are active, 2 on midnight watch, both of whom have darkvision, when normal threats from the jungle are going to be at their lowest, and 3, counting Sentis' animal companion, on 3rd watch, when once again, all of the animals of the jungle are moving about.
For marching order, Darkbiter and Grusk would typically be up front sneaking and scouting, and Sentis and his companion would probably make a good pair to serve as rear guard, watching our back.
Special instructions for jungle travel: Darkbiter would be instructing his squadmates, the porters, and his employers how to keep their scent to a minimum, both on the trail and in camp, in order to minimize attention from the local wildlife. Also, he would instruct everyone on how to minimize tracks, and other impact on the jungle, for the same reason. Beyond that, I would guess the same defenses and tent arrangement we set up for this camp whenever possible, but at minimum, the trip wire and either ditch or pikes, whichever is easiest to do for that spot.

Ryuko |

If you feel like I'm stepping on your toes with my suggestions, let me know, I am just trying to put something cohesive together so the DMs don't have to mash everyone's post together themeselves.
I agree with this. Good reasoning, good placement, fun pairs for rp purposes. This works. Small thing though... if we ever get out of the jungle Cort will be picking up a horse and using it. His feet hurt. Dunno if that would change marching order or such... just commenting.

DM - Voice of the Voiceless |

Oh, you're still on the plains at the moment - you don't get into the jungle till tomorrow [evil DM grin]
So we have thus:
1st Watch - Kaavel, Cort and Blaze
2nd Watch - Darkbiter and Grusk
3rd Watch - Sentis and Doc
On the march:
Up front scouting - Darkbiter and Grusk
In front of expedition - Kaavel
With the expedition - Cpl Valorious
Rear Guard - Sentis
Roaming - Blaze
Cort and Doc?

Sentis Spinis |

I suppose I'll join Greens on the back watch, since he's got no animal friends to keep him company.
Welcome to the back of the bus Cort. Glad I wont be solo back here.
@Voice of the Voiceless
- by precautions do you mean skill checks? Id periodically make Perception, Survival and Knowledge/Nature as we travel. Being second nature and during travel Ill say I take 10 on them if possible.
- and just how far back will Cort and I be from the front of the group?

DM - Voice of the Voiceless |

@ Sentis - not skill checks, just any qualitative measures that you might have taken against the jungle's unique environment.
As far as being at the back of the group, you are still within 5-10ft of the last porter on the baggage train. The only people who would be breaking away from the main sinuous baggage train would be Darkbiter and Grusk when they scout ahead. This is the jungle so vegetation closes in around you.
Remember, any time I throw up a skill check in the IC thread and we aren't in combat - you can almost always take 10. Only exception is for Perception rolls, I'd prefer if those are rolled out each time.

Sentis Spinis |

oh ok. Well how far to the fron tof our little train? Just wondering if I'll need a signal whistle to get their attention and vice versa.
preventative measures - Knowledge/Nature1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24 to find a bug repellant plant for Cort and I and whoever else is interested.

DM - Voice of the Voiceless |

Walking two abreast and 5-10 ft apart the whole train should be ~50-100ft long depending on how spread out the porters are at any given time. In general terms I'd suggest calling out would be sufficient, signal whistle may travel a bit further than you'd like.....
As for natural remedies - I'll give you a chance to have a looksee around next time we're on the march.
How are people liking the pacing so far? - given that PbPs tend to move with a speed of treacle, I'm going to try and give you something tangible to do each time I post an update - be it starting combat, leaving breadcrumbs, skill challenges, etc
I'm open to suggestions if there is anything anyone wants to see added or tried as well.

Sentis Spinis |

I have to say that Ive been more than pleased with the pacing of this game thus far. A friend warned me that the numerous times hed tried pbp's that they always fell off from slow posting to complete inactivity. So Thank you! to DM Pentor, DM Voice of the Voiceless and all my squad mates for staying on top of it and keeping our game moving forward.

DM - Voice of the Voiceless |

Also - to give me a hand on the treasure front, could everyone send me a list (email listed above) of what gear they would like to see their character obtaining over the next few levels?
I'm not guaranteeing that you'll get what you ask for, but it will help me craft a treasure list that is relevant.

DM - Voice of the Voiceless |

Artisan's tools are fine if you're looking for costs. I'm happy for them to be sufficient to do whatever you want as far as leatherworking goes. No point over-complicating the requirements.
If you want to add more detail for RP reasons, etc - I'd suggest scooting over to google / wikipedia and doing some research.

Cortland Broadcloak |

I'd rather not get into emailing. I'll post a list here.
A magic Aldori Dueling Sword (Pretty unlikely so far as I can tell. Might have to enchant my own. For shame. If you can manage though a keen one would be... well... keen)
Glamered Armor (Preferably Light or Medium)
Ring of Protection (I like AC)
(Eventually) Ring of Force Shield (See above)
Bag of Tricks (Love this item so much)
Hand of the Mage (Though preferably a similar item in non-mummy-hand form)
Ring of Arcane Signets (Awesome!!)
Sash of the War Champion (It would match my hat.)
Scabbard of Vigor
That's all I got now... maybe more later. I'm way too flamboyant with this char.
