Yeah thread and maybe something to just us like how Squad 1 has that creepy banner and Squad 2 is talking about masks or something?

Hm... good point.... suggestions anyone? I'm drawing a blank right now.

Maybe we can all get wolf tattoos ? Or maybe we make an emblem and put it on some part of our armor? Also wolf fang trinkets or wolf furs could work to.

I like the thought of everyone getting wolf, or wolf motif, tattoos. Anyone else?

male Half orc Shapeshifter Skirmisher 5

Maybe a tattoo of a wolf paw with a symbol of the overall company in the middle of the paw. Plus any other wolf related tattoos and trinkets individuals may have.

Male Half-Elf Martial Artist /4

With the wolf paw can think blue would work? Since we are the Sea Wolves or maybe wave like lines in the paw?

M half-orc Rogue 4 (acrobat) / Ranger 1 (falconer)

I think maybe a banner of some sort....

OR a signet ring or something....

Male Weremonkey Rogue/Ranger/Trickster

hmm, this wolf motif gives me a good idea. Won't say what just now, but will be in character build later.

Edit: are we the Sea Wolves or the Steel Wolves? either works, Sea if we're going for a more piratey type feel, Steel cuz we're hard bastards, lol.

male Half orc Shapeshifter Skirmisher 5

A wolf paw with blue waves on it would be a good emblem and could be used in a number of different mediums: tattoos, signet rings, banners.

I think I am liking Steel Wolves over Sea Wolves. Maybe a brand instead of a tattoo to show how tough we are.

Since we have kind of decided against going piratey feel... I kinda dig Steel Wolves more? Name Change?

Male Weremonkey Rogue/Ranger/Trickster

I'll vote for Steel Wolves, and second the idea of brands as opposed to tats.

male Half orc Shapeshifter Skirmisher 5

I still like Sea Wolves, personally. Even if we aren't actually on the sea, what happens on the sea is still of great importance to everybody in Sargava.

So we currently have 2 votes for Steel Wolves, 1 for Sea wolves. 4 votes to settle.

And 3 Votes for brands (1 is me), 1 more and that's settled.

Ryuko wrote:

Are you including Monkey and me or Monkey and you for the votes for the Steel Wolves.? If that is your vote, then that would be three for Steel.

Are we doing average starting gold?

I rolled for starting gold. And I guess that's three for name change to Steel Wolves then.

Male Half-Elf Martial Artist /4

Brands are cool. I do not know on the name the emblem idea for the Sea wolves was starting to get cool.

I like the idea of the wolf's paw but I'm not so hot on the waves.

Image 1
Image 2
Image 3

Our ranks could be tattoos as well.

Male Half-Elf Martial Artist /4

I like image 3. Oh do not like the waves well if we go with steel wolves what would we do for emblem/brand? I cannot think off the top of my head a way to put metal into the paw.

I think the name may be moot since the in game thread already has us being the Sea Wolves. As for the waves, I can see using the waves to designate rank. Us Privates have one wave below the paw.

Male Half-Elf Martial Artist /4

That would work.

M half-orc Rogue 4 (acrobat) / Ranger 1 (falconer)

Or no wave beneath the paw, making us buck privates

maybe e-1 is just the paw, e-2 is one crest of a wave, with 3-4 crests making a single row under the paw for an e-3 or 4?

I think should end at six or 8....

Supreme leader has something above the paw......

+1

wave tattoo

The paw could be in the center, and the ranks wrap around.

M half-orc Rogue 4 (acrobat) / Ranger 1 (falconer)

A picture is worth a 1000 words.....

Actual ranks seems very modern....

.....Could be number of jobs completed thus confuring increased respect/authority........

Male Half-Elf Martial Artist /4

Ranks are not really that modern been around for a long time.

male Half orc Shapeshifter Skirmisher 5

I like image 3, it would work for either steel wolves or sea wolves. If we go Sea Wolves, we can add waves to the main paw. If we go Steel Wolves, Put the paw in front of crossed swords. The branding idea is cool. I would say if we don't get any more votes by tomorrow go with what we have so we can move on to actually playing.

What in game thread?? Afaik there's no official IG thread. If you mean the "around the campfire" thread, I don't think that should really matter, just tell Penton we changed our name. He seems pretty laid back bout that kinda thing.

male Half orc Shapeshifter Skirmisher 5

We can start a different in game thread if we need to. That current one is as much for preliminary rping as anything.

Doh. I thought the threads were etched in stone. Of course we can start a new thread.

Forgot to say this before, but I too like the third image. If we go with Steel Wolves, which it looks like we are, I say use a blade underneath the paw to denote rank. I would only use a few blades, for the big ranks(Sargent, Major, Lt, etc or whatever term we use), and use different colors for in-between ranks.

Colors could be difficult if we go with the branding. Perhaps have the basic paw for the lowest rank, add a dagger in the spaces between the toes for non-coms, going from left to right, with the highest non-com rank having 3 daggers between the 4 paws. Officers might have swords placed around the edges. The officer part is weak and could use improvement, but I really like the non com part. Especially with branding, it makes officers who rose through the ranks stand out as such, giving them a measure of respect from the various non-coms.

I think for the brands we should just do the straight wolf paw. We can then create a badge or something that we wear for rank and such.

our base logo is the wolf paw, we need something really badass for our banner.

Male Changeling Fighter 1, Monk 1, Rogue 1, Ranger 1, Actor 5

Reporting in.

Concepts to follow. Any party roles or concepts that anyone would really like to see out of me?

M half-orc Rogue 4 (acrobat) / Ranger 1 (falconer)

Maybe a nice witch with the healing hex for a healer......

male Half orc Shapeshifter Skirmisher 5

At this point, I would probably say bard, witch, or any of the divine casting classes. All of the above would provide at least a basic amount of healing and general spell casting for the party, but is still be broad enough of a list to allow for a wide range of character options. If, however, you want to play something not on that list, I would say a full caster of any kind is probably the largest gap in the party currently. We seem to be well stocked on the martial side of things.

Male Changeling Fighter 1, Monk 1, Rogue 1, Ranger 1, Actor 5

I'd like to stick to the swashbucklery theme the group has, so here's some ideas along those lines that still provide the healer juice.

An ocean based druid. (You're leaking. Stop.)

A dwarven cannoneer bard or alchemist (Yer bleadin' all over mah deck, lad. C'mere. Drink this.)

A human weather based cleric (Let's get the wind back in your sails, soldier)

In the case of either the druid or the cleric I was thinking it might be fun to multiclass to arcane and eventually go Mystic Theurge. (Yes I know it's a crippling move in terms of optimization, but I like the flavor, and in a group with little to no other caster support it could actually shine)

Thoughts?

We're actually moving quite a bit away from the nautical theme. That said, it looks like we are now the Steel Wolves with wolf paw branding.

An ocean based druid still sounds quite awesome though since we likely will be quite coastal. Up to you, I suppose

So you folks are now the Steel Wolves? I will note that down.

Also all PCs start with Maximum Gold for their character class and i will be using your in-game threads to post in as it saves me from having to make them.:)

It would appear so, unless 4 people magically appear today and change the vote tally. We can create a new thread with the new name when the game actually starts, but for now the current campfire thread works.

We are moving away from the nautical theme as a group, but it is still a good theme for those individuals that want it. I love his dwarven alchemist with mortars and bagpipes idea.

Of course his character is still up to him. And I'll admit that having a dwarven mortar would be pretty damn awesome. I'm good either way.

I like the thought of a mystic theurge. I thought would be a good class to play with. Also druid might be cool with all the different wildlife we will be seeing around.

Male Human Super Cruel DM 10

Also like Druid and mystic theurge ideas.

Was thinking.... Anyone have any nickname thoughts yet? I was kinda thinking Beast for Darkbiter, for obvious reasons. No one else has made something jump straight to mind, but feel free to speak up.

Military nicknames are rarely so kind. They tend to be the kinds of names that only your brothers in arms can call you, and anyone else who says them is looking for a fight.

As such, I respectfully suggest "Ugly" (the obvious one) "Prettyboy" (because irony is funny) or "Smiley" (on account o' them fangs)

male Half orc Shapeshifter Skirmisher 5

With Darkbiter, kindness of the name used as little to do with how he reacts. If he doesn't like you, which is the case with most people, trying to call him anything that could even remotely be taken the wrong way probably will be, though the most common reaction to any name is indifference, and if he really doesn't like you, he's probably already attacking, and using the nicest name in the world isn't going to help you.

Male Half-Elf Martial Artist /4

For the nicknames I think we should post how our characters act than give a list of nicknames and we all vote on one from that list. Gives us chance to see how a character will act so we do not upset them like with Darkbiter. Well that is my idea.

HAha, Prettyboy is awesome. I like it.

Male Weremonkey Rogue/Ranger/Trickster

When I actually finish Blaze, u'll see why he has that nickname

Male Keleshite Magus(Kensai Archetype)/5

Banner inspiration!!!

A wolf, with a bloody sword gripped in its jaws, and a severed head at its feet.
