Between 3pp, homebrew rules, and what is in the PRD, what have people used to make interesting wilderness simulations?
I'm trying to find a good balance between providing lots of environmental and travel details (weather, terrain, rest, meals, physical and mental challenges, etc.) but also avoid spending lots of downtime rolling on all sorts of tables, or becoming so mired in details that it becomes a grind.
What have people found works best to find this balance?
