Where is everyone getting all the cool icons that they use when posting on this forum?

Go to the 'My Account' link at the top of the page. Avatr settings are under the messageboard settings section.

They are creating a profile, one of the first questions is to select an avatar......

Are you referring to the little icons next to names? (example the little eagle the above Paul Watson has next to the P in Paul)

These are the Pathfinder Society Faction Symbols which can be changed on your My Account page in your Messageboard Settings here.

A little Golem next to their name (like mine) designates a post by a Paizo employee or their alias (sometimes employees post under aliases such as in campaign journals or in certain off topic threads.
