Well, not an AP but old modules....I ran U1 Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh, fron long ago.
It wasn't too big of a deal because I had to update it from 1e to 3.5, so I changed a lot of stuff around, and revamped some of the mysteries and whatnot.
It also helped that the adventure was 20 or more years old, plenty of time for anybody who played it prior to forget the details. Which I switched around anyway...

I know the problem. I'm playing in a RotR on-line campaign at the moment, while running it for two RL groups and an on-line group through the same AP. It's hard, not to metagame, but I can do it because it's fun to be in character to me.
On the other hand, I was in a RL game where a player had read the encounter list, and his wizard went into every encounter with exactly the right spells and scroll prepared to deal with the creatures we found. It really rankled everyone else, and he got the hint when the DM sprang a monster on him that wasn't in the encounter list.
So it depends on your players, and the only way you can tell that is to 'suck it and see'. If they promise not to metagame, try it. If they don't metagame, great! If they do ... well, it's time to scrap that and start another AP.

I'd simply run a different AP. Unless I had enough experience with with that player to know it won't be a problem.
If a friend has only played the beginning and wanted to finish the story I might have them play NPCs and assist until we reached the point where things were new to them.
It really comes down to how much you trust the player.
