Buying magic armor

Rules Questions

so im currently a werewolf. well infected with it. i want to buy/comission someone to make me a +2 chainmail armor with the wild enchancement. ive discssed this with my dm but im curious on other thoughts.

how long would it take to get that from say the closest city? no one in the party can make magic armor yet. where would you find something like that? ive read the rules for pc's creating armor but not for npc's creating it

I don't think it would help you either, since the Wild enchantment specifically mentions wild shape.

PRD wrote:

Wild: The wearer of a suit of armor or a shield with this ability preserves his armor bonus (and any enhancement bonus) while in a wild shape. Armor and shields with this ability usually appear to be covered in leaf patterns. While the wearer is in a wild shape, the armor cannot be seen.

Moderate transmutation; CL 9th; Craft Magic Arms and Armor, baleful polymorph; Price +3 bonus.

As Talynonyx mentioned, as written the effects of wild armors do not function for a lycanthrope's shape change ability. You need to get your GM to sign off on that first.

Now as to the crafting process, it is identical to that followed by player characters. Only instead of a PC gathering the materials and making the checks, the GM does so on behalf of an NPC. Or at least, the GM approximates these tasks on behalf of the NPC.

First you need to find a willing NPC capable of crafting such an item. Considering a character needs to be at least fifth level, this can be an adventure in and of itself. Even in a city, tracking such an individual down is not necessarily an easy task. How difficult, however, is something strictly up to your GM.

Once you find such a craftsman, you have to agree to cost, details, etc. After that, the GM stats up the NPC, either estimates or actually makes the necessary Spellcraft checks, and tells you how long it takes.

If you hadn't already noticed, essentially the entire process is up to the whims and discretion of your GM. The basics are simple, but the details are vitally important, and always fluid.

okay. thanks i got my dm to sign off on the wild enchancements. i made the argument that a druid could use his wild shape to turn into a werewolf once he gets high enough. my dm is pretty cool as long as you do the research and make intellegent arguments and you can use stuff from the books to back it up.

do you agree or disagree that a druid could turn into a werewolf?

They cannot. Wild shape only allows a druid to transform into an animal or, at higher levels, elemental or plant.

A werewolf is a humanoid, of the shapechanger subtype; the rules are pretty clear that a druid cannot turn into one.
