Carrion Crown Vol. 1 question

Carrion Crown

In part 2 of the first book of carrion crown, it lists a bunch of things you can find out by research, and an exp reward for each. My question is about that experience. Is that meant to be divided up between the party, or do they *each* get the 250 xp or whatever for each discover?

It would be split over all the PCs, or just the PCs involved that contributed to it if you felt like doing it that way as a DM. I don't often separate XP as it encourages competition between the players - competition for my approval, or that's the way it comes off as. "Hey, don't I get some experience for that bit of role playing? It was good, wasn't it? You liked it, right?" Meh. Puppy dogs!

Obviously also only awarding those who contributed to it would have ramifications later. When the diviner did all the Knowledge rolls and research and got the experience, did you award him experience when the fighter 1 shotted the skeleton? What about the long combat where the diviner passed his turn over and over again, having little to add to this combat.

Just seems a slippery slope that I don't like to approach. EXP / # party members. In my opinion, or at least that's how I'm running it.

And by the way - experience for research is way cool. My PCs really enjoy it. Some of my players are way into role playing, others are into roll playing. This gives things for each of them. A hallmark is any good campaign!
