Hey all,
I'm currently working on a Paladin build for an ongoing LoF campaign and was envisioning him as a light armor fighter who dual wields scimitars.
What I have so far can be found Here
The only problem I've run into is the two weapon penalty for using a scimitar off handed. In 3.5 there was a feat called Oversized Two-Weapon Fighting which let you wield a non-light weapon in off-hand as though it was a light weapon. The problem lies in that in PFRPG there is no equivalent feat or trait that I can find and many GM's are loathe to use anything 3.5 in a Pathfinder game.
Is there any way to make this a viable build without taking the horrendous attack penalties?
Thanks,
V

I do not think that any 3PP stuff has what you are looking for.

I'm doing a religious campaign (where all the pc's are followers or divine classes) and Sarenae was the deity everyone chose. The Pally chose the Scimitar and decided to follow the Power Attack line, with Furious Focus, etc., etc. He eventually got his hands on Mithral Plate of Speed.... Lets just say: Thats one scary Pally.

Yeah, I work the stats around as well, making Cha primary and Str secondary, Con Tertiary...

I think there's the serrated sword in the Inner Sea World guide that if you get the exotic weapon prof for you treat it as a light weapon for the sake of TWF other wise it's treated as a scimitar. Talk to your DM and maybe he/she'll allow you to treat it as one.
Yeah, that would be the Sawtooth Saber, the signature weapon of the Red Mantis assassin's guild. Not exactly something a Paladin would be likely to carry.
Ok, I've rearranged some stats to boost my character's Charisma. But I still haven't given up on the the dual scimitars, just yet.

Why not substitute kukri for a 'lighter' scimitar, would be my suggestion. However, unless you are going to dip some fighter levels for extra feats, paladin TWFers aren't so hot. Sure, the smite damage is awesome, but the feat tax is huge on it.
I was going more for the flavor of it, not for any kind of optimization. Scimitars are Sarenrae's favorite weapon so I figured it would be cool to use two of them.
(Alomost)Everyone plays Pally's as a heavy armor tank and I thought it would be fun to go against convention and play a more mobile, light armored type of Paladin. Just my opinion, of course.| The Shaman |

Well, I think it's a matter of support. With a high-dexterity paladin you might be stretching yourself thin, and I'm not sure if it's actually worth it spending all those feats. Generally, keeping your armor high is good as you tend to be an obvious target - and if the armor doesn't mark you as one, Sarenrae's symbol probably will :) . A variant duelist that allows slashing weapons or a pathfinder version of the 3.5 CW dervish could also work. In general, though, you should be hard to hit - if not from your armor, then due to your mobility and skill in avoidance. A shield is optional - most cultures paired it with a one-handed sword, and a light shield can provide a mobile defense with a bit of offense. On the other hand, going for a single weapon can be very stylish, if not terribly well supported. Definitely consider the Dervish dance feat if you are not using a shield to reduce your reliance on several abilities. You may still like to have enough strength to get power attack, but everything that reduces your reliance on it to deal damage is a good thing for a mobile build.
Overall, I'd suggest speaking to your DM about something that allows you to trade heavy armor and possibly shield proficiency for other defensive bonuses - maybe the class-based AC bonus from Unearthed Arcana or a variant of the Draconic Husk from Dragon Magic. Go with either a regular scimitar, a falchion/heavy falchion (exotic weapon from Sandstorm), or wherever that double scimitar was from, any of these can work ok imo.
