Cavalier questions

Rules Questions

Since a cavalier is essentially cavalry is it assumed that they get the feat of Mounted Combat upon creation.
Also is it assumed that they ride their mount bareback or do they start with a saddle of some sort?
Thank you again!

Both of those assumptions would be wrong. Unless the text specifically states you receive the Mounted Combat feat and a free saddle with your Mount, you do not... and the text says no such thing.

EDIT: If your DM chooses to houserule those into their game, that's a different story.

Thanks that is what I thought but the pregenerated characters put out by paizo with the advanced players handbook at lvl 1 had a human cavalier with 3 feats including Mounted Combat. So I was wondering where the 3rd feat came from.

  • 1st level feat
  • human bonus feat
  • Tactics (bonus teamwork feat)

If he has something other than that, I cannot explain it, as I haven't actually seen the stats myself.

You're welcome, hope that was the answer you were looking for. :)

EDIT: BTW, even a paladin's divine mount arrives absent any gear the first time he calls it. Nothing in the text says it shows up with anything, but it has always been played (in my games at least) that once equipped the gear comes and goes with the mount when dismissed to it's celestial plane.
