Dimensional Steps: Do you need to see your location?

Rules Questions

Shift (the granted ability from the Focused School Teleportation) specifically states that you need to see the location you wish to teleport to, but Dimensional Steps doesn't say one way or the other. Can you then choose abstractions like "30 feet to my right"? Anyone have experience using this ability?

Looks to me like it's per the spell, with mishap chance and all that.

I have always seen it (and used it) as similar to dimension door. I was surprised to see know that there weren't any reference in the spell.

I believe you can state a direction just like using dimension door.
Since the ability does not state that sight is needed, I don't think there is reason to expect that it is. The fact that they have added that line in Shift, makes me more certain that it wasn't suppose to be the case.

D.Door doesn't have a mishap chance and all that.
