The Punisher v. The Vigilante!!!

Comics

The Vigilante: The original Vigilante was a western-themed hero who debuted in Action Comics #42 (November 1941). The origin of the Vigilante was straightforward, as was typical of 1940's mystery men. In the present day, his identity this time was Adrian Chase, a New York district attorney whose family was killed by mobsters. This caused Chase to seek justice in his own way as the Vigilante. The character was one of the first amoral characters in American comic books, influenced by the Punisher from Marvel Comics and The Executioner series of novels.

His abilities are Master Marksman, Peak human physical condition, and Experience in hand to hand combat. He also has a variety of armor, weapons, and devices at his disposal. He received brutal training to make him highly resistant to pain.

The Punisher (Frank Castle) is a fictional character, an anti-hero appearing in comic books based in the Marvel Comics Universe. Created by writer Gerry Conway and artists John Romita, Sr. and Ross Andru, the character made its first appearance in The Amazing Spider-Man #129 (February 1974).

The Punisher is a vigilante who employs murder, kidnapping, extortion, coercion, threats of violence and torture in his war on crime. Driven by the deaths of his wife and two kids, who were killed by the mob when they witnessed a gangland execution in New York City's Central Park, the Punisher wages a one-man war on the mob and all criminals in general by using all manner of conventional war weaponry. His family's killers were the first to be slain. A war veteran, Castle is a master of martial arts, stealth tactics, guerrilla warfare and a wide variety of weapons. He is a tactical expert, highly trained in armed and unarmed combat, demolitions expert, peak human physical condition, and has an exceptionally high pain tolerance.

In the battle between the Vigilante and the Punisher, Frank Castle wins. He reason is simple, while Adrian Chase has expressed regret and guilt over having to kill criminals, Castle has absolutely no problem killing criminals. In fact, he enjoys it. It is clear to me that Castle is psychopathic. He was able to control it when he was married with children and had a job as a cop, but after his family was murdered it pushed him over the edge.

In the fight between them, there would be lots of tactical decisions, guns, explosions, and hand to hand combat, but in the end the Punisher would kill the Vigilante. Enough said…

Scarab Sages

Oooh! That's a tough one. Punisher's got the kick ass skull emblem on his chest, but I've always liked Vigilant's mask.

I think you mean influencing rather than influenced by. I don't know how a character from 1941 gets influenced by someone not written until 32 years later.

Leafars introduction to the characters is all messed up. DC has more than one character with that name. One was created in the 40s and was a cowboy. The one that is similar to (and heavily influenced by) the punisher is Adrian Chase, an attorney whose family was murdered by mobsters, his origin was in 1983 and he only shares the name with the cowboy one. He's already dead and there have been at least three other people that took his mantle.

Wrong vigilante, Nathan Fillion voiced the cowboy vigilante.

Who would win?
Vigilante is a lawyer. Punisher is a marine. Punisher wins, no doubt.
