Hi, I am playing a summoner with a quadruped eidolon. (my mount). I was going through seeing about making a magic item to allow my mount to go into inns and taverns with me. I would think barkeeps and such would frown on a 4 legged critter coming in.
I was thinking like an amulet of Alter self. When my mount wasn't useing it, I would be wearing it. According to the magic item creation rules heres what I have.
Amulet of Alter Self
Craft Wondrous Item
Wizard 2nd level spell Alter Self
Caster Level is 3
continuous Spell level x caster level x 2,000 gp
If a continuous item has an effect based on a spell with a duration measured in rounds, multiply the cost by 4.
(2x3x2000)x4=72,000gp
Did I do this correctly? Seems a bit steep tho. Is there a better way for me to change my eidolon to bipedal?
Thanks

If you're going to delve into item creation rules, you could do what I did and negotiate a restriction-based cost modifier with your GM. That 24000gp (how did you get 72k? That math doesn't add up right even if you did multiply it by 4) can go down a considerable amount if, say, you only want it to work on Eidolons.

Alter self's duration is 1min/lvl, so the price would only be doubled.
oops, misread the spell. thought it said 1 rnd / level.
ok, so 2(2nd level spell) x 3 (Min Caster level) x 2000 (based on continous effect) x 2 (for minutes)
2x3=6.
6x2000=12000
12000x2=24000.
apparently I had a 3 on the brain when working the math.
good idea on the restriction but I was thinking about me using it too.

Or you could simply take the idea of the Hat of Disguise (CL1) and substitute Alter Self for Disguise Self, making it CL3 and a second level spell, or 6x the cost of the Hat of Disguise: 10800gp. Or make it continuous for 24000gp...
But the Eidolon is intellient. No reason he can't renew the effect every three minutes...
