Using Vampiric Touch on a Dhampir

Rules Questions

Silver Crusade

Would it heal the dhampir and hurt the caster, as a result of "reversing the polarities" so to speak?

We're basically weighing all of our options on keeping dhampir party members alive.

Hmm...doesn't actually say it's using positive or negative energy...I'd say it'll heal the dhampir just fine.

There is no mention of positive or negative energies in the spell description. Therefore it works normally with no change (the caster gains temporary hp the the dhampir takes damage).

Doh! Read the question wrong. For some reason I thought the Dhampir was the caster.

I don't think that Vampiric touch works on a Dhampir. They are a living creature but are negative energy aligned. I know that RAW there is no direct mention of negative energy in the spell description but the spell is still of the necromantic school. so it can be inferred to be a negative energy spell.

I don't think we can make that inference. Aren't there some Necromancy spells that deal cold damage?
