Help with Gorgons Fist

Rules Questions

The feat says:

Quote:
As a standard action, make a single unarmed melee attack

This can be understood in one of two ways:

1) That if you have, say 4-attacks per round, that ONE of these four attacks must be a Gorgons Fist if you so choose to use it, thus you *could* technically use 3-Scorpion Styles and 1-Gorgons Fist on your 4-attack standard action round.

2) It could also be understood as it is the ONLY attack you get that round.

I'm designing a monster who uses these feats and really need to know which way this is to be interpreted. Thanks.

"As a standard action" means only one attack, unless you can get multiple standard actions. Otherwise they would have said "As an attack action" or something.

Dark Archive

standard action means only 1 attack. you need a full attack action to use all 4 attacks. they cant be combined.

Ok thanks. Its a bit confusing because on page 182 of the PFCR, it lists Standard Actions and lists all of the standard actions and amongst them is Multiple Attacks on page 184, although granted, under MA's description it does say see Full-Round Action... so why is Multiple Attacks listed under Standard Actions then?!? Confusing.

I really don't see how it can be confusing if you read beyond the header - it's there so that you know where to look if you're looking at the attack rules and are wondering what to do if you have more than one attack.

Personally, I consider that entire feat chain to be junk as written, except for medusa's wrath which is sheer awesomeness. If you're planning on giving it to a monster, note that it has to be an unarmed attack, and natural weapons are not unarmed attacks.

Well its confusing because its listed under Standard Actions. Why is it there at all when its a Full Round Action? All Standard Actions get a move phase and a quickened phase. Full Round Actions don't get a move phase unless part of the action, i.e. charge. That's why its confusing.

Because you can take a standard action to make one attack, and then decide to take a move action or turn it into a full attack action.

Also, it is not simply under standard actions, it is under Attack actions, which is under standard actions.
