Liberty's Edge

So my girlfriend is going to be joining us for our RotRL campaign. She started out playing the iconic cleric. After my party wiped, we were talking about what she wanted to play next. She's never played PFRPG or DnD, she's mostly done white wolf. She wants to play something that can really dish out damage as well as heal. We mentioned paladin, but she doesn't want to be that goody-goody. Was thinking maybe druid, but we've already got one in the party. Maybe try cleric with different spells? Any ideas?

Inquisitor could work. Not a lot of healing, but it is better than nothing. Also, oracle. If she is okay with magical damage, she might be able to go with a witch.

Are you open to 3pp classes?

I like the inquisitor idea. If you have a theme that involves fighting a certain creature, a half elf inquisitor/ranger could be pretty nasty. Of course healing and dealing lots of damage can be a tough combination to build.

Also, an Oracle with Battle Mystery could have some cool possibilities. Dip into barbarian or fighter for a little added mayhem.

This. Don't multiclass, unless you want to go for the Rage Prophet.

Seriously, this class is pure gold for what she wants.

Battle oracle is pretty good fighter/healer.

Also druids can be pretty good, if you swap out all your non personal buff spells for cure's. Spend all your time in elemental form and you'll be right. And a level dip into monk is ideal.

Lawful Neutral Monk Druid can be nasty if you half and half and go bear form or wors go one of the speacilist monks from Pathfinders Advanced Players Guide, the one that the Druid can become a Giant....

+1 for the Battle Oracle/Barbarian multiclass then adding the Rage Prophet prestige class.

I am currently fulfilling the heal role as an Alchemist in my party. It probably won't be terribly effective in about 6-7 more levels, but it helps get the job done. For what you said, Battle Oracle is really the best way to go, but I just wanted to make sure that all the options were out there.

+1. Oracles are awesome and the battle oracle is my favorite by far.

I would do a ranged Inquisitor.

If she wants to do melee, then go for Battle Oracle. But in my mind melee is more tanking than DPR.

+1 Battle Oracle/Barbarian into Rage Prophet. We have one in our RotRL party.....at level 6 he was dropping like 45 damage per swing when fully buffed up. Just outrageous....and hilarious too as he uses the Drinking Barbarian abilities and just throws up after fights.

Battle Oracle pick up a reach polearm. Im a big fan of thes build after making one.

After using thes in game. The only real draw back is the size of the weapon can make it tricky. That when I take out a back up weapon. Other then the few times I need to do this. I keap the party figher in front of me. This lets me cast with out concentration checks. And heal him as needed with out moving.

Oh, yes. Especially with Maneuver Mastery from battle and a guisarme. Nothing says "I am here for you" like knocking an enemy prone for your fighter and provoking AoOs for both of you.

Thanks for the help everyone. She decided to go with the battle oracle. I think she's going to go for a reach weapon eventually, but for now she is using a hanbo for the trip ability. We didn't get to do any combat this week. Spent most of the time making characters.

I was all about the Guisarme. Till I found this.
Fauchard 1d10 18-20/x2 reach, trip
This is legal for Pathfinder Society Organized Play games.

My character on a 15 point buy.
Str 17
Dex 12
Con 14
Int 10
Wis 7
Cha 14
Traits: Reactionary, Vagabond Child (Disable Device)
Skills: Acrobatics, Diplomacy, Disable Device, Perception, Sense Motive. ( Spending some of my favord class bouns on exta linguistics. To learn languages.)
Feats:
Human: Improved Initiative
1st: Exta Revelation: War Sight
3rd: Exotic Weapon Fauchard

Revelations
1st: Skill at Arms
3rd: Weapon Master: Fauchard

The nice part is +7 initiative and rolling two dice. +3 to hit is not bad for a 3/4 BAB at low levels. It's easy to recover with divine favor and later with divine power. Geting enlarge person at 2nd level helps alot to. That gives you a 15ft reach with the Fauchard.
