Scarab Sages

Does anyone know what spell would be appropriate to make a gnome submersible immune to the pressures of the deep ocean depths? And if so could someone give me a chart that relates spell level with depths?

The specific submersible is listed on page 53 & 54 in the 3.0 Arms and Equipment Guide. It is about 70 ft long and weighs about 10 tons.

This seems like more of a materials question than magic.
Though some creative crafting could be good, lets see.....

Something to autocast mending as leaks form
Endure Elements, though thats mostly to prevent warping from temperature change
Make Whole: see Mending
Ironwood, if its made of wood for some reason
Control Water, use your imagination
telekinetic sphere, or similar

try creating a home-brew spell to add hardness or DR. Modeled after stoneskin.
Or trade it in for an Apparatus of the Crab

Use planar adaptation to make it immune to the normal environmental conditions of deep ocean.

Resilient Sphere, would be good imo.

The spell itself isn't perfect- but alot of spells are like that for magical items.

Why not just use one of these?

Is it not gnomish enough for you?

The Exchange

Back in the 1980's D&D established rules for this.

Craft Gnomish Submersible
To avoid being crushed, the crew must travel in water within the vessel (water breathing) allowing survival. Water is allowed to enter the hull through micropores. The Vessel looks like an Iron Fish 7' wide and 20' long. Pilot and 2 passengers.

Requirements: 20th level wizard; Spells - major creation, Water breathing, Fly
Enchant Hull:
major creation (iron) [each spell creates 10' x 10' x 2"] : 5th level spell x 8 spells = 40
Fly : 3rd level spell x 8 spells = 24
Water breathing : 3rd level spell x 8 spells = 24

total spell levels = 88 spell levels

Enchant cost = 88 spell levels x 3000gp = 264,000gp
Enchant Time = 1 week + 1 day per 1000gp or 271 days.

Thanks this is what I was looking for.
